After learning more about nutrition and working with many clients, I've figured out a few things that you can do to reduce sugar and beat the cravings as well. ABSORB TURMERIC BETTER (increase the health benefits easily)

Turmeric absorption is a bigger issue than most people realize. In this video, I'll talk about scientifically proven ways to boost turmeric absorption. Turmeric is really popular right now and if you spend any time on Pinterest, you'll see many, many recipes! But many of the recipes don't actually help you absorb the turmeric, so you're missing out on the health benefits. There is no point taking turmeric and not absorbing any of it. Curcumin in turmeric is responsible for the health benefits of turmeric, but it's actually very difficult for the body to absorb since the liver clears it rather quickly. To increase turmeric absorption, you can add black pepper and fat to your turmeric drinks/dishes. Both black pepper and fat can optimize absorption significantly. In this video, I share 20 things I have changed over the last 5 years as I have transitioned from a maximalist lifestyle to a more simple and minimalist lifestyle. I've made these changes slowly and they haven't felt daunting. These are based on my personal experience and I do recognize that these tips will not be relevant for everyone. In this video, I share how I save thousands of dollars of my discretionary income by changing my mindset from the typical consumer mindset to a minimalist mindset. Many liquid sweeteners don't have much in terms of vitamins, minerals and fibre. I'm passionate about eating mainly whole foods and minimally processed foods, so I've been looking for an alternative to expensive sweeteners such as maple syrup and coconut nectar. This DIY sweetener fits the bill! DATE SAUCE: 18-20 pitted dates, medjool or deglet noor Boiling hot water to cover the dates 1. Place the dates in a glass container that is not too wide. 2. Pour boiling water over the dates. Use just enough water tocover the dates. 3. Let the dates soften in the water for 15-20 minutes. After the dates have softened, begin to break them up with a spoon. 4. Strain the dates and reserve the soaking liquid. Add the strained dates and half of the soaking liquid to a high powered blender. Blend until smooth. 5. Add the remaining soaking water and blend again. Check the texture and add more water until you reach the desired consistency. You can change things up by adding different spices such as cinnamon, clove powder and cardamom powder. If you choose to bake with this sweetener, you will need to experiment a bit as it's not a 1:1 replacement for other liquid sweeteners. Thank you for watching! In the past, I bought clothes on impulse and ended up with many items that just collected dust in my closet. To prevent that from happening again, I really think about my purchases now and only buy items that really make me happy and fit my style and life. I now have a much smaller collection of clothing and I no longer buy things that I'll only wear a few times. Most weight loss tips don't work long-term because they focus on quick fixes. In this video, I'm going to share 9 science-backed tips that do work and have research to back them up. These are the tips that helped me lose 40 pounds gradually and keep it off. I was 160 pounds at my heaviest weight and today I am just below 120 pounds - at the time of this video I am 119 pounds. My height is just a tad under 5' 5'' (165 cm). I lost the weight in two phases. In phase 1, where I drastically reduced my sugar intake and increased my daily activity, I went from 160 pounds to 140 pounds. Then, I hovered between 135 and 140 pounds for most of my twenties. In my thirties, I decided to drop some more body fat to reduce my risk of diabetes. I went from 135 pounds to 120 pounds in my mid-thirties. This was the hardest weight to lose and it didn't drop off as easily as the first 20 pounds. I focused on eating whole, unprocessed foods and daily activity (exercise and non-exercise related too) as well as other lifestyle and nutrition changes. The tips in this video have helped me lose the excess weight and also keep it off. These aren't changes to make for a short period of time. These are all long-term changes that require consistency. When it comes to weight loss, CONSISTENCY is key. There are many different ways to lose weight, so do what works for you, but keep it consistent. Good luck on your weight loss journey! The first few years were not effective because we tried different techniques and while some worked, most did not. Much like new year’s resolutions, many of our goals were soon forgotten. Last year, I was ready to make some change. With input from a few friends, I published an action-oriented workbook, the 2018 Goal Setting Workbook. It was something that I was going to share with only a handful of people I knew, but a friend nudged me to share it publicly. Since the workbook’s release, it’s been downloaded thousands of times and I have received many emails from people who have seen it impact their lives positively. The workbook has made a big difference to my life too! Despite a difficult start to the year due to some personal issues, I was still able to make 2018 an impactful year. I credit that to goal setting and having a clear vision of what I wanted to focus on. This year I was able to achieve goals like: ● taking my YouTube channel from 300 subscribers to nearly 100,000 subscribers in 11 months ● reading 30 books in the year (this was a big achievement for me because I didn’t even read 4 books a year in the prior years!) ● working through the many issues that held me back - e.g. perfectionism and self-doubt These are just a few examples of things that made 2018 memorable for me. In this video, I share three dairy-free, vegan and oil-free recipes that are based on whole foods like nuts and seeds. These salad dressings can also be used for dressing grain bowls, roasted veggies and also dipping. Let's get started! Hempseed dressing Ingredients: 1/2 cup hemp hearts 1/2 cup filtered chilled water Juice of two medium lemons Zest of one medium lemon 1 clove of garlic (use garlic powder if you don't like the taste of raw garlic) 15-20 fresh mint leaves 1 tsp onion powder salt + pepper to taste Blend all the ingredients except the mint until smooth. Add the mint and blend until you get the desired consistency. Taste and adjust seasonings. Add more water if necessary to get the consistency you want. Note: The dressing tastes better when it's chilled. If you use room temperature water for blending, the dressing may taste a bit off as it warms up. Chill it, then taste and adjust the seasoning in that case. Red pepper dressing Ingredients: 2 roasted red bell peppers 4 tbsp of tahini (the runny kind) Juice of 1 medium lemon 2 garlic cloves (use garlic powder if you don't like the taste of raw garlic) 1/2 tsp cumin powder salt + pepper to taste Chilled filtered water as needed to thin out the dressing Blend all the ingredients until smooth. Taste and adjust seasonings. Add more water if necessary to get the consistency you want. I didn't add any water to mine. Note: The dressing tastes better when it's chilled. If you use room temperature water for blending, the dressing may taste a bit off. Chill it, then taste and adjust the seasoning in that case. Cashew dressing Ingredients: 1/2 cup raw cashews 1/2 cup chilled, filtered water Juice of 1 lime Zest of 1/2 lime 1/2 tbsp tamari 2 Thai red chillies (the small ones - I used the seeds inside as well for heat) 1/2 tsp grated ginger 1 small clove of garlic (use garlic powder if you don't like the taste of raw garlic) 3-4 leaves of cilantro 1 tbsp maple syrup (optional - but really brings the flavours together so I highly recommend a touch of natural sweetener to round out the flavours) salt + pepper to taste Soak the cashews overnight in some water in a bowl - place the bowl in the fridge. Use enough water to completely cover the cashews and allow for expansion of the cashews. Drain the cashews the next day. Blend all the ingredients until smooth. Taste and adjust seasonings. Add more water if necessary to get the consistency you want. Note: The dressing tastes better when it's chilled. If you use room temperature water for blending, the dressing may taste a bit off as it may get a bit too warm. Chill it, then taste and adjust the seasoning in that case. ✨ Thank you for watching!
