How trading on the New York Stock Exchange actually works

24:32
Peter Tuchman explains and demonstrates how trading works on the NYSE (New York Stock Exchange). He also has some valuable suggestions for would be traders. Rick Green while interviewed by Wayne McCarthy was lying through his teeth explaining that his brother in law (or one of his traders), by the name of Louie Asiaee, uses paper to trade on the NYSE and not electronically and that is the reason he offers to explain why he can't show evidence of the trading that he supposedly do for investors. Rick Green openly confessed on video that he stole money from me and that he has no shame. You can read more about what transpired on this blog dedicated to this thief. https://jordaanhannes.wixsite.com/isrickgreenathief Credits www.wirtschaft-tv.com

Ep 148: How to Trade in a Foreign Account or as an International Trader

17:33
Ep 148: How to Trade in a Foreign Account or as an International Trader ★ SUMMARY ★ Today I want to share with you some insights about how you can trade stocks if you’re living abroad or if you are an international or foreign trader. If you live outside the USA and you want to trade in the stock market, you need to keep in mind that you have to file and get the right paperwork in order. This is a lot easier if you are a US citizen and you want to trade from a different country because you live outside the US. But, if you are not a US citizen, it’s still possible, but there are more complexities that come to it. Keep in mind that every country has certain rules and regulations. Every broker also has certain regulations that they follow and practice when it comes to each country. So the best thing you can always do is pick up the phone, call brokers, and explain your situation, based on your documentation, based on your government ID, and your country. What do you need to get started? - Fill out a W-8BEN form for tax purposes - Have a passport or some kind of government ID - Verify your address, country of residence, with a utility bill, like gas, water or electricity. Which countries qualify? - Most countries can trade on the US markets (Except a handful like Iran, Nigeria, etc.) One of the best places to sign up and get an international account is through Interactive Brokers. But keep in mind they do have some account minimums, like $10,000 and you have to trade a certain number of trades every single month, and meet other requirements, otherwise you get charge a fee. There are other brokers you can use, such as TD Ameritrate. And in this video I’ll show you some of the paperwork they require in order to let you open an international account. The process is not overly complicated. There are some forms you need to fill out and some additional work you need to do, as oppose of being a US citizen, but it is still very doable. When I filmed this it looked so new and I saw things I had never seen before. Global financial trading. It now looks so old in some ways and probably, if I went to that spot again, in some ways would look exactly the same. This is a portion of a one-hour primetime documentary special I made called The Information Society. When it first ran, people had never seen anything like this before. #wallstreet #money #stocks #capitalism #socialism #communism #stockmarket #economy

Day Trading using the Tick Index as an Indicator Part 1

08:24
Day Trading using the Tick Index as an Indicator Part 1. http://www.financial-spread-betting.com/course/technical-analysis.html PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE THIS VIDEO SO WE CAN DO MORE! Tick Index. One of my favourite trading tools is the tick index - this isn't technically a technical indicator. It is a real index and its provided by the New York stock exchange. You are unlikely to have it with a UK broker. When I was actively trading the Dow it was my favourite trading tool.uThe Tick Index is basically the number of stocks trading on an uptick minus the number of stocks trading on a down tick. And they have different variations like the Nasdaq Tick index, DOW Tick index..etc This is a very short term indicator; it is like an emotional thermometer from the psychology perspective. If the whole universe of buyers are aggressive enough to be hitting stocks on an uptick i.e. they're buying and not prepared to wait for the bid, then that's something I really want to pay attention to. NYSE vs NASDAQ - who has more "mega cap" listings?

04:16
The two biggest stock exchanges in the world, in terms of total market capitalization value of the shares listed, are the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the NASDAQ. But which of these two stock exchanges has the highest number of “mega caps”? Take your guess and find out in this Finance Storyteller video. Historically, the NYSE has always had the largest total market capitalization of companies listed, while the NASDAQ allows a far larger number of companies to be listed, particularly those that may be too small to meet the requirements of the NYSE. The NASDAQ also has far lower listing fees than the NYSE. What are “mega cap” companies? Well, these are the Big Dogs! A “mega cap” is a company with a market capitalization exceeding $100 billion, some would even say exceeding $200 billion. Let’s take a look at a subset of the top 25 companies in the world in terms of market capitalization, in the middle of May 2017. 15 out of these 25 companies have their primary listing in the US, so on either the NYSE or NASDAQ. Philip de Vroe (The Finance Storyteller) aims to make strategy, finance and leadership enjoyable and easier to understand. Learn the business vocabulary to join the conversation with your CEO at your company. Understand how financial statements work in order to make better stock market investment decisions. BEHIND THE TICKER TAPE 1950s AMERICAN STOCK EXCHANGE HISTORY FILM 87554 MD

20:24
Dating from 1957, "Behind the Ticker Tape" is a wonderful film that tells the story of the American Stock Exchange (now NYSE), showing how securities sales have evolved over the years, and giving a profile of the ASE at the height of its activity. NYSE MKT LLC, formerly known as the American Stock Exchange (AMEX), is an American stock exchange situated in New York City, New York. AMEX was previously a mutual organization, owned by its members. Until 1953, it was known as the New York Curb Exchange. The film begins with shots of the AMEX floor including the visitor's gallery, where the public could watch the frenzied exchange of stock. Hand signals are seen at 1:08, resulting in the sale of thousands of dollars of stock. At 1:30, a new broker who has just achieved a seat on the exchange, is shown arriving for work. His mentors talk to him about how to handle stock purchasing customers and how to counsel investors. At 4:30, the Gold Rush is shown, and there is a discussion of how the stock market helps American commerce grow and thrive. At 5:00 the so-called "curb market" is re-enacted on the streets of Manhattan. At 6:00, the curb market on Wall Street caused a change of venue, to 44 Broad Street, but the trading posts were still outside. At 7:30, the 1908 meeting of leading brokers to form the "New York Curb Agency", which was the forerunner of the AMEX. At 9:20, the arrival of the telephone revolutionized stock trading, but also (as the film shows) caused chaos. At 11:45, the development of the use of hand gestures to conduct sales is shown, as well as colorful hats. At 14:00, the modern stock market of the 1920s-1950s is shown. At 14:50, the ticker tape machine is shown and its use explained. The use of teletypes is also shown in the placing of a buy order. At 15:53, an annunciator board is used to get the attention of a broker for the order and an order is placed. The film ends with a discussion of the future, showing the AMEX building at 19:00 and describing its "lightning fast" communications network where the "future is being born". These brokers often traded stocks that were speculative in nature. With the discovery of oil in the latter half of the 19th century, even oil stocks entered into the curb market. By 1865, following the American Civil War, stocks in small industrial companies, such as iron and steel, textiles and chemicals were first sold by curbstone brokers. Efforts to organize and standardize the market started early in the 20th century under Emanuel S. Mendels and Carl H. Pforzheimer.. In 1908, the New York Curb Market Agency was established, to codify trading practices. In 1911, the curbstone brokers came to be known as the New York Curb Market, which then had a formal constitution with brokerage and listing standards. After several years of outdoor trading, the curbstone brokers moved indoors in 1921 to New York Curb Exchange Building on Greenwich Street in Lower Manhattan. In 1929, the New York Curb Market changed its name to the New York Curb Exchange. Within no time, the Curb Exchange became the leading international stock market, listing more foreign issues than all other U.S. securities markets combined. In 1953 the Curb Exchange was renamed the American Stock Exchange. We encourage viewers to add comments and, especially, to provide additional information about our videos by adding a comment! Warren Buffett - How Anyone can Invest and Become Rich

05:40
Website: https://primedlifestyle.com/ Instagram: Primed Berkshire Hathaway Annual report: http://www.berkshirehathaway.com/letters/2013ltr.pdf Warren Buffett's favorite book -The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham on Amazon: http://amzn.to/2AlojQc Tony Robbins Money Master the Game on Amazon: http://amzn.to/2zyz84n Audible 30 day free trail: https://goo.gl/x64Vb9 Warren Buffett - One of the most successful investor of all times with an estimated net worth of over 80 billion dollars to this date has shared his methods for investing. Having bought his first stock at 11 years of age and having $53,000 dollars to his name at 17, he sure knows a thing or two about this market. And even though he spent a lifetime developing his skills, he’s has shared some very straightforward advice about investing that anyone can take advantage of. Warren Buffett’s first rule is to simply think long term over short term. He might be going overboard with this concept and he is truly embracing it around his entire life. He still lives in the same house he bought in 1958 and is also working at the very same desk since 50 years back and doesn’t use a computer but traditional pen and paper. He’s been quoted saying he doesn’t throw anything away until he’s had it for at least 20-25 years. So thinking long term is natural for him and the ability to resist selling has proved to be very successful for him. So having that said the reason why he’s holding on to what he buys is because he does his homework and does so very well. He’s stated many times that he spends 80 % of his day reading and catching up with the latest news and what companies to invest in. He thinks about life and investing as learning as much as he can and reads between 600-1,000 pages every single day. However not many people have the time or money to read for 8 hours a day and invest a few billions in the biggest companies like Warren Buffet, and it’s not a strategy that anyone can apply and find success with. And I wanted to make a video explaining how absolutely anyone can invest and become rich without taking time to read and grasp what to invest in which is why I’m super excited to share this with you. So when reading the Berkshire Hathaway Annual report of 2013, one of the most interesting paragraphs I found was on page 20 where he gave a very simple and straightforward advice about investing. He says “My money is where my mouth is: What I advise here is essentially identical to certain instructions I’ve laid out in my will. So in his will he’s demanded that future of his family's money money should be invested such as this: Put 10% of the cash in short-term government bonds and 90% in a very low-cost S&P 500 index fund.” And he finishes it off by stating “I believe the trust’s long-term results from this policy will be superior to those attained by most investors” I told you it was straight forward. Don’t try to outplay the market but instead play with it. No man or machine can predict the ups and downs of the market, well except for Warren Buffett, so it would be foolish to try to beat it when you can simply join it. The very same formula was also mentioned in Tony Robbins book money master the game and index funds really seems to be the future of investments because the market will always rise in long term, and that’s essentially what you invest in - the market. The S&P 500 contains all the 500 largest companies that trade on NYSE and Nasdaq. Instead of picking stocks individually, you can now own a piece of all of the biggest companies such as Apple, Microsoft and Google. And investing in an index fund is very secure since a single company might go bankrupt, however the market will not. And you don’t have to stick to only the U.S market but could invest in the european and asian markets that’s also doing very well and you can even invest in global index funds to own a part of the biggest companies in the world. And for the other 10 %, the short-term government bonds is a very low risk low cost alternative that is also offered by vanguard amongst others. Short-term bonds are very attractive to investors because of they’re very stable and consistently rising, however the return tends to be smaller. And I’ll finish it off through Warren Buffett’s words: “The goal of the non-professional should not be to pick winners but should rather be to own a cross-section of businesses that in aggregate are bound to do well.” Music: Life of Riley by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Source: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?isrc=USUAN1400054 Artist: http://incompetech.com/

What is Margin Trading? | Fidelity

05:39
Have you always wondered what it means to trade on margin? In this video, you’ll learn what margin trading is and if it is a strategy that could help you achieve your investment goals. To get started with margin trading, visit: https://www.fidelity.com/trading/advanced-trading-tools/margin-trading To see more videos from Fidelity Investments, subscribe to: https://www.youtube.com/fidelityinvestments _____________________________________________________________ What is margin trading? How does it work, and what are some of the benefits and risks? Over the next few minutes, we’ll take away some of the mystery of margin trading and help you decide whether it is a strategy that can help you achieve your investment goals. Margin trading is a form of borrowing that lets you leverage securities you already own to purchase additional securities, protect your account from overdraft or access a convenient line of credit. Margin trading is not designed for any specific type of customer – it may be right for any investor looking for additional leverage in their investment. Here’s an example of how it works: assume you want to buy 1,000 shares of QRS stock at $10 per share, but only have $5,000 in investable cash available. With a margin account, you can use your $5,000 in cash and borrow the other $5,000 on margin to make your purchase. Without margin – with what’s called a cash account – you would need the full $10,000 in cash to make this stock purchase. Now let’s see how a margin loan could impact your investment return. Assume the QRS stock rises in value from $10,000 to $11,000 and you sell it. You would pay back the $5,000 margin loan and realize a profit of $1,000. That’s a 20% return on your $5,000 investment. Without a margin loan, you would have invested $10,000 in cash and realized only a 10% return. While leverage is a powerful tool when the price of the security moves in your favor, it is also important to recognize the downside if the stock price falls. Let’s look at the flip side of the same example. Assume the market value of the QRS stock you purchased with margin for $10,000 falls to $9,000. Your equity – which is the value of your position minus the loan balance of $5,000 – would fall to $4,000. That’s a 20% loss from a 10% decrease in market value. Just like any loan, you will also incur interest charges that begin accruing on the date your trade settles, which is typically two days for a stock. The rate you pay depends on your outstanding margin balance – known as the margin debit balance. The rate is typically calculated using a tiered schedule, meaning the higher your debit balance, the lower the rate you are charged. You should also know that margin loans have no set repayment schedule, as long as you maintain the required level of equity in your account. Let’s shift focus to this equity requirement, along with some other important requirements for margin accounts. In order to buy securities on margin, you must also deposit enough cash or eligible securities to meet the initial margin requirement for your purchase. Typically, this is 50%, which is a requirement set by the Federal Reserve Board. Once you have started buying stock on margin, you are required to maintain a certain level of equity in your margin account. This requirement varies based on the type of security. For example, a stock generally has a maintenance requirement of 25% and is set by the New York Stock Exchange and FINRA. A brokerage firm may impose a higher requirement due to factors including, but not limited to, holding a significant portion of your account in a single security, which is known as a concentrated position. The security you are investing in must be eligible for margin in the first place, and not all securities are eligible. For example, while most stocks and fixed income securities, such as treasuries, are eligible, CDs and money markets are not. You can find out whether a security is eligible, as well as the specific margin requirements for each type of security, at https://www.fidelity.com/margin. Now we’ll put this information together and see how it all works. Margin trading entails greater risk, including but not limited to risk of loss and incurrence of margin interest debt, and is not suitable for all investors. Please assess your financial circumstances and risk tolerance prior to trading on margin. If the market value of the securities in your margin account declines, you may be required to deposit more money or securities in order to maintain your line of credit. If you are unable to do so, Fidelity may be required to sell all or a portion of our pledged assets. Margin credit is extended by National Financial Services, Member NYSE, SIPC. How to Trade with the NYSE Tick Index Part 2

How to Trade with the NYSE Tick Index Part 2 http://www.financial-spread-betting.com/course/technical-analysis.html PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE THIS VIDEO SO WE CAN DO MORE! This is one of my favourite indicators for day trading if you can call it that. This will work if you trade the S&P 500 or DOW - not forex or commodities. This is an Intraday Index, from the New York Stock Exchange. Its basically the number of stocks trading on an uptick minus the number of stocks trading on a downtick. The indicator oscillates over the zero line. My take on the TICK index is that if you get an extreme move, say anything above a thousand is extreme greed. In other ways you have a lot of people who are getting aggressive one side or another and normally that is not sustainable. So broadly speaking I'm looking to fade extreme moves in the TICK index. Another thing we can do is to try buy pullbacks in the TICK. You can also use it to trade momentum and take short-term scalps. Both the stock (equities) market and foreign exchange market (forex) offer lucrative opportunities for investors. Trillions of dollars are funneled and exchanged through the markets on a regular basis. While they share some similarities, however, forex and the stock market are two unique markets with their own characteristics. Trading Alternatives Let's first go ahead and get the most obvious difference out of the way: the stock market trades securities of various companies without the respective company's involvement, whereas forex is a decentralized market for the trading of currencies. This means you'll have far greater options available when trading on the stock market, as it contains thousands upon thousands of different stocks. Forex, however, is limited to currencies like the USD, EUR, JPY, GBP, NZD, CAD, etc. Simplicity One of the reasons why so many investors prefer forex trading is because of its simplicity. In addition to trading single currencies, investors can trade “pairs” of currencies, such as the EUR/USD (most popular). So instead of having to monitor the fluctuations of thousands of different stock, you can focus strictly on monitoring your respective currency or pairs or currencies in which you have invested. It's this level of simplicity that has made forex such a popular investment platform among newcomers. Commissions As noted in an article published by Investopedia, commissions tend to be higher (much higher) in the stock market when compared to forex. Stock brokers typically require a commission fee on their spreads, in addition to the actual exchange fees. Forex brokers, however, only take the spread fee as their commission. Technical jargon aside, you get keep more of your money when investing in forex. Margin But there are still some reasons to choose the traditional stock market over forex, such as profit margins. Stock market trades can yield huge gains, sometimes ranging as much as 50%. Forex, however, typically involve smaller profit margins, although at the benefit of less volatility. Trading Hours Another distinguishable difference between forex and the stock market is their trading hours. Most major stock exchanges (e.g. NASDAQ, DOW, NYSE) open for trades at 9:30am EST and close at 4:00pm EST. There are exceptions to this rule, however, such as market holidays and half-day market holidays. forex, on the other hand, is open for trading 24 hours a day throughout the workweek, with the market closed for trading on the weekends. The History and Progress of the NYC Stock Exchange Documentary Movies | History Channel. Welcome to HISTORY CHANNEL - home of the best documentary films and documentary movies! A stock exchange or bourse is an exchange where stock brokers and traders can buy and/or sell stocks (also called shares), bonds, and other securities. Stock exchanges may also provide facilities for issue and redemption of securities and other financial instruments, and capital events including the payment of income and dividends. Securities traded on a stock exchange include stock issued by listed companies, unit trusts, derivatives, pooled investment products and bonds. Stock exchanges often function as "continuous auction" markets, with buyers and sellers consummating transactions at a central location, such as the floor of the exchange.[2] To be able to trade a security on a certain stock exchange, it must be listed there. Usually, there is a central location at least for record keeping, but trade is increasingly less linked to such a physical place, as modern markets use electronic networks, which gives them advantages of increased speed and reduced cost of transactions. Trade on an exchange is restricted to brokers who are members of the exchange. In recent years, various other trading venues, such as electronic communication networks, alternative trading systems and "dark pools" have taken much of the trading activity away from traditional stock exchanges.[3] The initial public offering of stocks and bonds to investors is by definition done in the primary market and subsequent trading is done in the secondary market. A stock exchange is often the most important component of a stock market. Supply and demand in stock markets are driven by various factors that, as in all free markets, affect the price of stocks (see stock valuation). There is usually no obligation for stock to be issued via the stock exchange itself, nor must stock be subsequently traded on the exchange. Such trading may be off exchange or over-the-counter. This is the usual way that derivatives and bonds are traded. Increasingly, stock exchanges are part of a global securities market.
