A Typical Day For An ABA Therapist: Applied Behavior Analysis

07:18
A typical day for an ABA Therapist at Brett DiNovi & Associates is documented from beginning to end. Joe Carter assigns a case to a clinician based on expertise, location, and many other factors. This episode documents Pam Marshall facilitating a typical community activity in a real-world setting. Behavior Analysis best generalizes when implemented in these naturalistic settings as opposed to the old school style of sitting at a table doing discrete trials. How To Stop A Tantrum By A Board Certified Behavior Analyst

Stopping and preventing tantrums is based on behavioral science and is very lawful and systematic. How To Stop A Tantrum Due To A Demand: Applied Behavior Analysis

This is how to use applied behavior analysis to stop or prevent a tantrum that occurs when a demand, like doing homework, is placed on a child. Notice that Heather Nunziato, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, recommends the parent teaches this learner how to appropriately ask for a break which is functional communication training. ABA Autism Training - Chapter 1 - The Discrete Trial

10:37
This video provides an overview of the components of a discrete trial -- the discriminative stimulus, the response from the child or prompt from the therapist, and finally, reinforcement or correction. The Autism Intervention Training Video Series was designed for individuals in the beginning stages of learning how to conduct Applied Behavioural Analysis with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. It is a series of videos demonstrating 5 of the key techniques needed for successful intervention: The Discrete Trial; Reinforcement; Prompting; Generalization; Incidental Teaching The videos are intended to be a learning tool, used in conjunction with textbook, classroom and/or practice-based learning. Each video is short enough to be shown during class time with time left over for the instructor to cover the topics in more detail during lecture. These videos will be useful to students, paraprofessionals, professionals and parents.

Introduction to Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) | Dr. Carbone

17:58
Dr. Vincent J. Carbone, Ed.D., BCBA-D provides an Introduction to Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). ABA is the science in which tactics derived from the principles of behavior are applied to improve socially significant behavior and experimentation is used to identify the variables responsible for the improvement in behavior. Its application to children diagnosed with autism and other developmental disabilities has been well researched and shown to lead to meaningful increases in the skill level of children. Dr. Carbone emphasizes that Skinner's Analysis of Verbal Behavior is not different to ABA, it is an ABA approach to language. Many ABA practitioners do not make use of two lines of research: motivation (Jack Michael) and Analysis of Verbal Behavior (Skinner) to the language training of persons with autism. Dr. Carbone is the founder of the Carbone Clinic in New York and in Dubai ( www.thecarboneclinic.ae ). Dr. Carbone will be offering a Workshop on "Teaching Language to Children with Autism and Reducing Problem Behavior" in Dubai on September 5th & 6th 2014: http://thecarboneclinic.ae/WorkshopSchedule.htm. Subtitles in English are available on the video clicking on the Captions icon on the bottom right of the YouTube screen.

Applied Behavior Analysis: Just the Facts By Dawn Hendricks

01:18:14
Applied behavior analysis (ABA) has been demonstrated time and again to be an effective strategy for teaching skills and reducing problem behavior in individuals with autism spectrum disorders as well as other developmental disabilities. Despite its proven track record, there are still many misconceptions about what it is and how it is to be used. ABA is a set of principles that can be applied in any classroom, home, or community where learning takes place. As a parent or professional supporting a person with ASD, having an understanding of these principles and how to apply them is advantageous and can lead to skill acquisition in any area including communication, social skills, academics, and self-help. In this presentation, Dr. Hendricks will define ABA, introduce key terminology and will describe the key principles that are to be used by parents and educators. Real life examples of how these principles can be applied with individuals with ASD will be provided. https://rrtc.vcu.edu/

ABA Therapy with Sarah

04:36
This is a good example of Applied Behavioral Analysis in action using an approach called Verbal Behavior. The therapist is a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst. E is three years old. He was diagnosed with Autism when he was 18 months old. [update] E is now 9 years old. He still gets speech therapy although his verbal ability is about 75% of typical. He is in mainstream public education with some minor accommodations and pull out time for speech and social skills. He is two years ahead in math and above grade level in all other academic areas. He loves soccer, science, and math. He does still flap his arms when excited but above all else, he is a very happy, loving boy. [update] E is 8 years old, in mainstream education with some assists. Academically grade level or above in all subjects. Very happy boy, outgoing and friendly. Has some ADHD issues and challenges in a learning environment. Loves soccer, science, numbers and has been doing hip-hop dancing for two years now. Plays the piano and has perfect pitch. [update] Now a year later, his verbal ability is vastly improved. He can ask for anything he needs, has much longer sentences and says things like "Oh look at all the grass! It's beautiful!" He can count to 30, knows his ABCs and can even spell some words. He plays with his brother and parents, takes turns, laughs, hugs and says hello and thank you. There's still a lot of work ahead for him to be able to function in a classroom setting with typical kids but because of ABA he is definitely on track. [update] E is now almost 5 years old. His communication and social skills have progressed greatly. Here is a video of him describing the animals he sees in clouds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rypNYn7-KfY

Behavior Modification Toward a Sustainable World: Michael Voltaire at TEDxNSU

12:32
Michael Voltaire highlights some basic learning principles derived from laboratory experiments to explain the science behind applied behavioral analysis (ABA). ABA has been used successfully to improve the behavioral and social functioning in persons with disabilities. In this talk, Voltaire illustrates how ABA applications can foster a more optimal functioning of the typically developed population. Voltaire is an assistant professor at the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences at Nova Southeastern University. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Why Great Employees Quit in 2018 & How Applied Behavior Analysis Helps

06:33
Great performing employees that take on more responsibility typically quit because they get dumped on by their managers in salary based pay arrangements. In an effective pay for performance model of employment, peak performing employees are highly rewarded for the extra discretionary effort they put into their work. Lower performing employees are typically complacent and on salary, because there is not an incentive to do extra work. #hackingbehavior #organizationalbehaviormanagement Brett DiNovi is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst & the founder & CEO of the largest award winning behavioral consultation group of its kind on the East Coast of the United States which deploys over 450 consultants throughout NJ, PA, NY, DE, CA, ME & worldwide through the use of remote video consultation. Brett DiNovi & Associates (BDA) uses the principles of Organizational Behavior Management (OBM) to consult with companies by pinpointing key performance indicators (KPI's), assisting in the precise measurement of them using proprietary algorithms, and making the smallest changes that have the most impact on the organization's bottom line and quality for its stakeholders.
