1. Accept the fall. Don’t try to slow it down or to stop your downfall too early. I believe that, only when you are at the bottom, you can start to re-climb and to re-construct your life. But in any case - as I said before, I accept the fall - but the moment I arrive at the bottom, I wouldn’t stay there for too long….so I would try to change the situation by asking myself: „What can I do today, to make myself feel better?“ I will always know, that it is in my hands to change the situation. Even if the circumstances come from outside - it’s only me who can change my inside.
2. Express gratitude.
That has always helped me. No matter how sad you are or how low you feel - there will be things you can be able to feel gratitude. For example for your physical health? Or for you loved ones or for your friends who are around you ? Or that you still have a roof above your head ? You can even be thankful that you are still alive ! Maybe you can even find gratitude for this moment - because we all know, that these moments will make us grow and make us stronger. I believe, that gratitude is a powerful tool and that you could try to implement daily habits of gratitude in to your life. To start a day with gratitude is great - you will get some positive emotions which will boost your morning. And by the way: Dr. Emmons and Dr. McCullough have done extensive research into the effects of gratitude practices. In one study in 2003 they found that after 10 weeks, the people who had focused on gratitude in their lives showed significantly more optimism in many areas of their lives, including health and exercise. So it’s worth trying it.
3. Trust - that the good moments will come back. And to ask myself the question: „What can I do - today - to get there? Is there any chance, that I will be able to experience a good moment today, even if it is just for a second?“ This will make you do something, which might do you some good. At least you try. At least you a pro-active. And one day, you’ll see, you will feel a good moment and in this moment, you will know, that others will come as well. That you are on the good way. Imagine your life is like a wave - sometimes you are at the lowest point and sometimes you are somewhere between and sometimes you are at the highest point. Of course we all strive to stay at the up-side and that is good, because like this we will always understand that we can influence our waves. The advantage of being on the lowest point, is to know, that the rising part is the next part.
