Determining Chassis Stiffness with MATLAB

17:25
Get a Free Trial: https://goo.gl/C2Y9A5 Get Pricing Info: https://goo.gl/kDvGHt Ready to Buy: https://goo.gl/vsIeA5 Christoph Hahn, technical education specialist at MathWorks, introduces you to an efficient approach to determine structural properties of a steel tube frame using the direct stiffness method. Determining the structural properties of a truss or beam framework is part of many introductory mechanics courses for civil mechanical engineers. Apart from analytical schemes or graphical methods such as the Cremona plan, displacements and member forces can be calculated using the direct stiffness method. This technique, which is the basis for all considerations within that episode, is a classic first step to explore the Finite Element Method (FEM). Starting from an analogy between a truss framework and a FSAE steel tube frame, Christoph explains the basics of the direct stiffness method using an introductory example of a 3-truss framework. He also introduces you to the MATLAB File Exchange where users have contributed various implementations of the direct stiffness method. Finite Element Simulation of Tensile Test Using MATLAB and ABAQUS Interactively

09:23
In this video, I am briefly showing a demo of a code I have developed in order to run ABAQUS simulations within MATLAB environment using my Graphical User Interface (GUI), which makes it much easier to redo multiple tasks or automation of a parametric study. So, basically, I am using ABAQUS scripting from command environment... I used this code, with some modification to go through the options automatically and, after some post-processing, to see which of the selected constitutive equations would be more suitable to predict AA5182-O flow behaviour. The manuscript prepared using this approach is published in journal of Materials and Design, 2016, Vol. 94, pages 262-273. It is noteworthy that constants of phenomenological constitutive equations were calculated/optimized by genetic algorithm and linear regression analysis elsewhere. Also, concept and methodology to design, train and validation of the neural networks used is not discussed here but can be found and studied from the manuscript... Hopefully, I will try to find time to make another video about those! Orthogonal Collocation on Finite Elements in MATLAB

20:59
This is a practical introduction to orthogonal collocation on finite elements with Lobatto quadrature for the numerical solution of differential algebraic equations. Discretization of a continuous time representation allow large-scale nonlinear programming (NLP) solvers to find solutions at specified intervals in a time horizon. There are many names and related techniques for obtaining mathematical relationships between derivatives and non-derivative values. Some of the terms that are relevant to this discussion include: Orthogonal collocation on finite elements, Direct transcription, Gauss pseudospectral method, Gaussian quadrature, Lobatto quadrature, Radau collocation, Legendre polynomials, Chebyshev polynomials, Jacobi polynomials, Laguerre polynomials

http://www.integratedsoft.com/Technology/FEM/Comparison Chances are that if you've done simulation using Finite Element Method (FEM) or Boundary Element Method (BEM) software, at some point you've discovered or been told that your mesh was not adequate to obtain accurate results. INTEGRATED includes both options in the same package, at no extra cost, so you can find the solver that better fit your application.
