How to Block Ads in Firefox

01:40
Facing problems while browsing because of all those annoying ads? Follow this step by step guide and learn how to block ads in firefox Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ Introduction: Advertisements on webpages exist in a lot of different forms for example images, text, video and even animations. Many browsers come with an inbuilt solution to block much of such annoying advertisements. With that said, a lot of free ware extensions are also available that help do the job for you. From annoying pop ups to video advertisements, all kinds of advertisements can be removed from your webpage. In this tutorial, we will teach you how to block ads in firefox. Step # 1 -- Opening up the Options window First of all, let's check out the default options firefox has that helps in blocking annoying advertisements. For that you will need to open up the options window. To do that, open up the firefox menu and click on options. For those of you, who are used to the menu bar, go to tools and over there you can find options. Step # 2 -- Advanced Javascript Settings Once the options window opens up, move over to the content tab. As per the default settings, Firefox can block pop-ups, not load images and not run Java or JavaScript while browsing. You can change the settings to give more rights to the browser, for example allowing popup windows to open when browsing. Step # 3 -- Ad Block Plus Extension Although firefox does limit this to a certain extent, it's not enough. For that, you will need to download specific plug-ins. For firefox, the ad block plus plug-in does the trick for you. Once the plug-in has been added to your browser, open up any website. Let's log in to our hotmail account to see if that annoying banner towards the right side of the inbox is still being displayed. Step # 4 -- Viewing the plug-in activity Notice the Ad Block Plus icon at the bottom left of the browser. If you move your cursor over it, you can get all the details related to the current page, for example the number of items being blocked on the website, etc. Step # 5 -- Changing the Preferences In firefox, ad block plus logs all the data of your activity so you can monitor and change each and everything that you can view or want to block. To make changes, click on the icon and move to Filter Preferences. Step # 6 -- Adding Custom Filters Over here, move to the custom filters tab and here you can add specific filters and actions to the plugin to block ads in firefox more effectively. For example you can target specific url's from where you don't want the content to be loaded.

☆► DOWNLOAD *ANY* STREAMED VIDEO WITH JUST FIREFOX ◄

02:48
*READ ME* Hell yeah! No additional programs or add-ons needed, just Firefox! Whenever you play a video on ANY website, a copy of it will be stored in your browser cache which you can conveniently access with Firefox! This works with _ANY_ website that uses HTTP streaming, meaning actually about ANY website. Now why do you want to use this method? I'll tell you: You will get the videos right in the quality you watched them in, no other websites with queues and re-encoding that worsens quality are needed, you just download the video directly as it is. You do not need any add-on and you can do that wherever you are, as long as you are using Firefox. Last but not least, unlike add-ons or websites this should work with about any streamed video. I have successfully tested it with: Youtube, videozer, Megavideo and veoh but it WILL work with about any other site. If it does not work with a website, feel free to tell me in the comments :) ----- I would recommend watching the video in 1080p, although I tried to make it so it is enough for you to just read the steps at 360p. Here again the steps from the video: Step 1: Make sure your cache is large enough! Go to Options - Advanced - Network and set the size of the cache to about 1 Gigabyte to have plenty to even download a movie! Step 2: Open the desired video you would like to download! Step 3: Clear your cache! (Tools - Clear Recent History..) Step 4: Browse to: "about:cache?device=disk" without the ""! Step 5: Reload your video and wait until it finished loading! Step 6: Refresh the cache tab and locate the largest file! That should not be difficult as even the smallest video should be significantly larger than all the other files there (take a look at the size in bytes), then click it [click the blue link]! Unfortunately the video went bad quality in that moment as it lags a little when you click. Step 7: Copy the location of the video and open it with your browser! Copy the link to the right of where it says "file on disk:" and paste it into your browser which then will let you "download" it. Alternatively you can delete the characters after the last slash and open the folder on your computer. Step 8: Download/copy the video to a folder of your liking and rename the file. This *can* be a bit tricky because the normal user does not know what extension the file is supposed to have. On Youtube all videos at 240p-480p resolution are encoded in .flv format, anything larger in .mp4. Those are about the only choices on other websites, too [maybe you will come across a .avi file every once in a while]. Oh and admittedly the steps 2 and 4 are not really necessary :) ~~~~~ If you like this video, feel free to subscribe to my channel! How To Remove Your Last Name On Facebook

01:45
***WATCH IN HD FOR BEST QUALITY*** This method is still working as of August 2014. Instructions on removing your last name on Facebook if you didn't quite catch them in the video: 1) Make sure you have Mozilla Firefox installed. You can download the latest version here: http://filehippo.com/download_firefox/download/0b6e939c14e5a9c491a0f69082f29abf/ 2) Open Mozilla Firefox and go to http://www.facebook.com/ and log in to the account in which you would like the last name to be removed from. 3) Click the little gear icon in the top right corner and click "Account Settings". 4) Press Alt on your keyboard to bring up Firefox Menu Bar and go to Tools, Options and then click the Advanced tab at the tob. 5) Now open the Network tab and click the Settings button. 6) Check "Manual Proxy Configuration" and in the "HTTP Proxy" box, paste a proxy IP from proxylist.hidemyass.com and find any Indonesian proxy. 7) In the "Port" box, type "8080". 8) Check "Use this proxy server for all protocols" underneath and then click "OK". 9) Now go back to Facebook and change your language to Bahasa Indonesia (it will not work if you don't) and save changes. 10) Now, with the language changed, edit your name and remove your last name. You can then save changes once again. The page may take a while to load (this is normal when using a proxy) however if it is taking an excessively long time, simply refresh and repeat this step. 11) Once your name has saved, change your language back to the default (for me, it is English UK). 12) Done! Your last name will no longer be visible on Facebook. I hope this video helped you. If it did, please comment/like/subscribe and recommend it to others so it can help them too! :) If you have any questions then leave me a message. This method is working as of 24th July 2013. If it does not work for you then please let me know and I will do my best to help. :)

On many webpages of my site, where you can study chess games and play against chess engines, a Java applet is used, which has served us for many years trouble-free. In the recent years however most modern browsers like MS Edge, Google Chrome, possibly even Opera have disposed the Java applets because of the "supposedly" untrustworthy safety, which is in my opinion unreasonably. Actually, without this pages my site is now half as valuable. Here is a workaround for this issue. If you don't see any Java applets (a green chess board with chess games) at the bottom of my pages, please download and install the latest version of Java. Then install Mozilla Firefox until Version 51!! for instance a good Version 40.0.3. In the Java Control Panel, which you can find in different places, depending on your operating system, (in Windows 8.1/10 you can find it via pressing the start button in the taskbar) add the site http://www.grinis.de/ (don't forget the slash in the end), to the Exception Site List. To configure the Exception Site List you should go to the tab "Safety". The List is shown in that tab. To add or delete any website, press "Edit Site List". Now you have to enable Java in Mozilla Firefox. Now please open Firefox and the website http://www.grinis.de. After that go for instance to Steinitz's 475 chess games. If Firefox wants you to confirm, whether it shall run "supposedly untrustworthy" applications on my website, please confirm pressing "Yes", and you will see a green chess board at the bottom of the page. Maybe on older browsers like Internet Explorer or Netscape Java will work even better. Beginning with Mozilla Firefox Version 52 Java applets won't be supported by Firefox. That's why you have to install an older version of Firefox until Version 51 to get full access to my website. Also you must (IMPORTANT!) deactivate automatic updates of Firefox. The automatic updates can be deactivated here: Tools/Options/Advanced/Update (about:preferences#advanced). Then Firefox will never be updated and you will always be able to see the Java applets on my website. Meanwhile, I gradually try to create alternative pages where you can watch chess games without Java. Though there are only about 400 games. Chess for Beginners. Chess Openings #22. Configure Firefox to use the SSH Proxy as a SOCKS proxy

02:02
Configuring Firefox to use this new SSH tunnel is simple. Start Firefox, then select the Tools menu, and then select the Options... menu item. Now click the Advanced icon (on the upper-right of the dialog), and then select the Network tab Now click the "Settings..." button. This brings up the Connection Settings dialog. On this dialog click the "Manual proxy configuration" radio button, then put the address 127.0.0.1 in the SOCKS Host field. In the Port field just to the right of the SOCKS Host field enter the port you used when configuring your SSH tunnel with Putty. In my case this port was 1080 That's all you need to do here. Just click OK on this dialog, click OK again on the Options dialog, and Firefox should be ready to go.
