First Day Of HomeSchooling

01:25
Today is my first day of homeschooling, I am still really sad about the fact that I can not be in Chinese class. I really wanted to learn Chinese so that I can talk to my sisters (my exchange students) in their native language. Plus not to complain to much but I dont really like any of the other classes that much... Or at all, they are all required and boring classes, I don't have a single elective, and I don't think that I will be able to make friends. But I just have to stay positive and look on the bright side.

Assignment Asia: Homeschooling in Singapore

09:13
For some children in Singapore, going to school does not mean sitting in a classroom with dozens of their counterparts. Instead, it means being at home where their parents – who also serve as teachers – impart the necessary knowledge and values. Miro Lu visited some of these homes to find out why more and more families are turning to homeschooling, which only became legal in the country two decades ago. Korea University Exchange Student: Day in the Life 고려대학교 교환학생의 일상 | 'ROUND KU #1

12:29
Welcome to my channel! I decided to film this Day in the Life of a Korea University student video to help future international/exchange students to get a glimpse of what a typical day would look like for a Korea University student! I am currently on exchange for this Spring 2017 semester from NY. As I mentioned, every day differs so much because there is always so much to do in Korea! And I love that. I HIGHLY recommend applying to study abroad at Korea University because it will definitely be a time you won’t forget. !!!FAQ!!!! (Compiled from questions incoming students have contacted & asked me! If you have a question that's not here COMMENT on the video!) 1. Where do you live? I lived in Allive Goshitel near business side of campus. I paid 550,000W/month + 50,000 deposit. I would recommend this place if you are a business student/have a lot of classes on the business side of campus because of it's location. However, it is far from the busy side of campus (near Anam Station). It is about a 10-15 minute walk from there or two stops on a bus (101, 7211). 2. What are you studying? What semester are you in? I am a business major (KU doesn't have concentrations but in my home school I concentrate in marketing). I am in my fourth semester (second year, second semester). However, in Korea SPRING is the first semester and FALL is the second. 3. What is the process for applying? Please contact your home university and ask if they have a program WITH Korea University. I applied through my home university so unless you go to Binghamton University I can't specifically help you out on that sorry :( 4. What was the course registration process like? Course registration was very very harsh for a lot of exchange students and it's usually harsh for even native students here. It's very competitive and seats go fast but I personally got all the courses I wanted. Before the registration period starts your KU advisor will send you an email with all the things you need to know so don't worry! I registered for classes back when I was still home so I had to make sure I got the time exchange right. Even if you don't get the course you want, you can always wait for orientation/couple days before the semester starts because courses fluctuate in capacity for the first week or so of classes. Don't worry-- on orientation day they will give you a detailed booklet of the steps you need to register for classes! 5. What are the schedules like? Is it possible to put all your classes in two days? The schedules vary like a normal university and usually are M/W/F or T/Th like most schools. 6. Is it difficult to get a dorm room? Are goshitels more expensive than dorm rooms? My goshitel was more expensive than dorm rooms but by very little. I believe CJ is 2,000,000 won for 4 months (comes down to less than $500 a month). Also, my study abroad advisor told me that KUBS exchange students from my school NEVER get a place in CJ so I knew I had to find off-campus housing on my own before arrival. 7. Do the dorms have a kitchen? Or is it simply buy from dining halls/restaurants? Is there a meal plan? I think dorms have small kitchens. No meal plans but the food is very cheap in caf/around school. YOU WILL NOT STARVE! Don't worry LOL 8. Do they provide bedding, pillows, duvets at the university? At CJ it is 20,000W to rent. 9. How’s the buddy system? I really enjoyed it because it allowed us to get comfortable with the school. They have many events/lunches/dinners together. 10. Do you feel that Korea University has a lot of student events on campus? At the beginning of the spring semester, there was a club fair & a school-wide cheering event/concert called Ipselenti. We had performers like TWICE, Hweesung, BeWhy. In the fall semester, there's also a small club fair and also a HUGE event called the Kor-Yon Games (Korea Uni VS Yonsei) which is a sporting match/cheering event also with many famous performers! I heard it's LIIITTT!!! KU treats their exchange students very well with an established buddy system-- your Katalk group chat amongst your group will always be buzzing with people willing to hang out & go on adventures together! Everyone is open to making new friends :) 11. What’s around the university? What’s the neighborhood like? For starters, buses & trains run from the university to anywhere in Korea really so you will not be deserted. It is not as crowded as like Hongdae or Seoul Station and Anam is an area that not many people go to unless they live there. But however, there is this road (the one I walk through in the video) that has the most "life." There's coin noraebangs (karaoke), chicken joints, road shop makeup, convenience stores, restaurants, etc.. Thanks for watching and please feel free to comment any questions/comments down below! Have a good day :) »INSTAGRAM: http://instagram.com/ohana806 »SNAPCHAT: http://snapchat.com/add/hannah0h »TWITTER: http://twitter.com/hannahoh97 Music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsSGnJPEVlY

10 Most Insane School Rules In South Korea

10:04
10 Most Insane School Rules In South Korea ► Subscribe: https://goo.gl/vHN6qB For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] Most schools have the usual rules such as being dressed, showing up on time, and being quiet in the classroom. Usual school days are usually Monday through Friday, 8 hours a day. School break is during the summer and we all get a few months off to enjoy the sun and take a nice vacation. But things are not the same when it comes to other countries, and we found some strange rules in South Korea which might make you happy you don’t live there. Before we jump into the video, make sure you are subscribed and turn on notifications so you will be the first to know when we release a new video. Now check out these 10 strange school rules in South Korea. No Shoes - You probably know about the Asian tradition of taking off your shoes before entering a home. Well, the shoe etiquette goes beyond the house and into the classroom when it comes to students in South Korea. Strange Bathroom Rules - Like all the other schools in the world, to go to the toilet, you just have to ask for a pass to leave the classroom. And in many countries, the school supplies all the stuff like paper towels or toilet paper. But South Korea has a different system. School Uniform – The majority of secondary students in South Korea have to wear a uniform called a ‘gyobok’. From the start of middle school and up the uniform is strictly monitored and students must wear one. The uniform usually consists of a shirt, blazer, and tie, with skirts for girls and long trousers for boys. In addition to uniforms being standard, students also have standards for which they must wear their hair. The Five Year Teacher-Principal Rotation Cycle– Teachers in South Korea don’t end up staying at the same school as most teachers in other schools and universities in places like the United States for instance. After each five-year term at the school, everyone including the teachers, the vice-principal, and even the principal of the school go through a lottery-type system and have to change schools. Take Out The Trash – Most public buildings including schools in different parts of the world have their own staff to keep them clean. The only thing that students have to worry about is their studies. However, If you’re a student in South Korea, then you get to clean up the school yourself. Extra Lessons – When it comes to international tests, South Korea has some of the highest achievers. This is probably due to those 12+-hour Saturdays and other long days of study. For many students, a double-shift of school every weekday is a normal thing. Students attend classes from 7:30 AM, and then it’s lunchtime at 1:00 PM. At 5:00 PM school ends and self-study or special classes begin. At 7:00 pm there is dinner at school for one hour and at 8:00 PM self-study continues. Sleeping in class – One needs to wonder if it’s actually allowed to sleep during classes in South Korea. A survey was conducted that found one-third of students in South Korea sleep during class. In fact, it’s a normal thing to see 10-30 students passed out on their desks, and some fast asleep. No Homecoming Events – In U.S. High Schools, there is a dance at the end of the high school year called a promenade dance or as it’s sometimes called, ‘homecoming’ where students get dressed up nice, get a date and head to what many say is one of the most important and memorable time of the end of your high school year. Punishment – Every school has some type of punishment system for not doing what you’re supposed to be doing, or when certain people such as troublemakers or bullies need to have some discipline. A lot of different things can happen such as ending up in detention or worse, having to stay after school and write 1000 times Limited vacation – In most schools around the world, there is no school during the summer for many reasons. Some of those include the fact that it’s way too hot to sit in a classroom and do schoolwork, and who wants to be stuck inside during beautiful summer days when there are better things to do such as play on a beach or hang out with friends. And it’s usually the time when families take vacations. We hope you enjoyed this video, and don’t forget that if you want to be first to know when we release a new video make sure to click subscribe and enable notifications. Top 3 Best Secular Homeschool Curriculum Programs

03:35
Most homeschool curriculum is geared towards Christian based families and their lifestyle. As a result, it is difficult to find a homeschool curriculum that is not based on the Christian faith. If you would like to homeschool your child but opt for a non-religious approach then continue watching; we will suggest three different secular homeschool curriculums. Oak Meadow offers homeschool curriculum materials and has been doing so for over 30 years. It has an accredited distance education school that provides independent learning for students worldwide. The Oak Meadow curriculum allows for easily transferable credits to educational institutions around the world and it is a significant method of preparing for college. This particular curriculum gives students the opportunity to be well-rounded individuals by offering a creative means of delivering lessons. It incorporates lesson plans, assignments and activities which give a sound base for the balanced growth of its users. It has all the advantages of learning at home coupled with qualified teacher support and full academic credit. The Oak Meadow curriculum supports its core principles of integrative thinking, involvement in community efforts and investigating the natural world. It also provides support to students in their pursuit of academic success by encouraging the development of their confidence through their own observations and opinions. This curriculum is a great balance between academics, intellectual development and emotional involvement. Connections Academy’s mission is to assist students to enhance their potential and achieve the best performance standards with a unique secular homeschool curriculum. They refer to their approach as personalized learning. It entails tailoring lessons to fit each student’s strengths and weaknesses. They begin by assessing students’ strong and weak points so they can develop individual ways of teaching in order for your child to learn and enjoy learning. The best thing about Connections Academy is that it offers an instructional program for gifted and talented kids. This special program gives third to eighth graders a specially designed gifted course in Language Arts and Mathematics while high schoolers get college preparation courses offering the participation in Honors and Advanced Placement courses. Calvert School boasts over a century of experience in the field. They utilize traditional and innovative methods of delivering lessons. They work with both newbies and people experienced in homeschooling in creating an individual approach to teaching students. Calvert offers many resources such as a text book exchange. They saw the need to help families save money and recycle Calvert texts so they developed a convenient book exchange program. Another resource is the provision of Education Counselors who offer support, teaching strategies and practical advice to guide you through the home schooling journey. In addition, Calvert School accepts the responsibility of ensuring that students are competent in the use of computers. They therefore include lessons to help in the development of age-appropriate computer skills. The great thing about this effort is that they organically integrate this material into the curriculum as opposed to making it a meaningless “add-on”. All three options of secular homeschool curriculums offer years of experience. All three offer a traditional and modern approach to teaching and learning. Visit their websites to learn more information so you can make the best decision for your children.

Just a little more information I didn’t include in my review: The level I received for this review (Level 4) is intended for grades 10-12. Most of the reading is college level. The curriculum will give the student the following credits: Credits include History-1, Bible-1/2-1, English 1/2-1. There is a level for every student grades K-5. About me: Hello, I’m Rebekah Teague, pastor’s wife, homeschooling mother of one, and writer of things.
