Man stops ICE arrest with know your rights training

01:48
Man stopped by ICE uses 'know your rights' training, prevents immigrants' arrest A member of a group that urges immigrants to know their rights used some of that training to keep immigration officers from arresting two people who were in the car with him. Bryan MacCormack, 30, executive director of the Columbia County Sanctuary Movement in upstate New York, was captured on video refusing to open his car door March 5 to what an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer insisted was a “warrant of arrest of alien.” MacCormack had just accompanied two immigrants without legal status to the courthouse to deal with minor traffic citations. They were in their car about 20 seconds when they were pulled over by ICE agents, he told NBC News. Before the agent got to the car, MacCormack told one of his passengers to start recording video and reminded them of the rights. The passengers had been told they might get pulled over and were prepared for the possibility, he said. The video begins as MacCormack is telling an ICE officer at his car window that the papers he has handed him are not warrants for arrest. “Yes they are, sir, warrant of arrest of alien,” the unidentified officer says to MacCormack as he points to a line on the papers he is holding. The officer's face can't be seen in the video. “Yeah, warrant of arrest of ... alien, not signed by a judge. It’s not a judicial warrant. I have no obligation to oblige by that warrant,” MacCormack responds. MacCormack's group posted the video on YouTube on March 8 and issued a news release. The incident was reported in the local media, but it has only just begun to get national attention. An edited version of the video was posted Tuesday evening by NowThisNews. "This really isn’t about me," MacCormack said. "It’s about what happens when people in general know their rights." MacCormack had called the group's attorney and put the call on speakerphone. During the exchange, the attorney can be heard telling him to tell the officer the lawyer was on his way. Despite MacCormack's protests, the officer at the car repeated that what he had in his hand was a lawful warrant under the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act signed by "an official with that designated authority." But MacCormack responded that the warrant was not an official warrant under the U.S. Constitution, but rather a Department of Homeland Security order. He told the officer he’s undergoing Department of Justice-accredited training and has copies of the paperwork the agent was showing him and of a "real" warrant in the car “just so people know not to listen to that.” The officer then asked MacCormack whether he is familiar with laws governing transporting and harboring of “illegal aliens” in the United States. "I was nervous and felt fear for the safety of myself and the community members inside of my vehicle. But I was also inherently indignant at ICE’s tactics and their relentless pursuit and practice of detention, deportation and family separation," MacCormack said in a phone interview.

Bakkt, The Intercontinental Exchange new Company, Along with Starbucks, Microsoft Crypto Moon

05:45
Come to TheCryptoLight.com for up to date news on all cryptocurrency information! On December 12th, 2018, Bakkt will start its Bitcoin Futures, its parent company, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) same owner of the New York Stock Exchange. Unlike the prior Bitcoin Futures, Bakkt will launch a 1-day physically delivered Bitcoin contract along with physical warehousing. Backed by Microsoft and Starbucks, Intercontinental Exchange is launching a startup called Bakkt to make the cryptocurrency safe for your retirement fund, and maybe for retail, too. To achieve that vision, ICE is partnering with heavyweights from the worlds of technology, consulting, and retail: Microsoft, Boston Consulting Group, and Starbucks. ICE did not immediately disclose the total investment of the investment partners, a group which also includes Fortress Investment Group, Eagle Seven, and Susquehanna International Group—or the ownership stakes. If the Bakkt blueprint works as planned, a panoply of new Bitcoin funds would tap the pent-up demand for the cryptocurrency, making it a safe and easy choice for everyday investors—notably millennials getting their first 401(k)s. Wall Street could then tap Bitcoin’s popularity as an alternative to stocks and bonds to generate giant trading volumes. And that flood of institutional buying and selling, in turn, would take the terror out of Bitcoin by smoothing its wild swings in price. Source: Fortune Magazine

Out of Chaos: ICE's Sprecher Says Exchange Is Set For Growth

06:32
The Intercontinental Exchange Group had a record 2014, but for CEO Jeff Sprecher "boy, it was a chaotic year." ICE posted revenues of $3.01 billion last year from transaction and clearing fees, as it consolidated operations from the 2013 NYSE Euronext acquisition, navigated changing regulations, handled energy market volatility and eyed its Asian expansion. Sprecher, who spoke with JLN editor-in-chief Jim Kharouf at the FIA Boca conference, said regulation will continue to be a strong influence on the marketplace in 2015. But ICE is not waiting for the US and European rulemaking process to reach its conclusion. The exchange plans to launch a new Singapore-based exchange and clearinghouse to complement its US and European operations.
VIDEO: New York man uses 'know your rights training' stops ICE from arresting two immigrants

02:36
The executive director of a group that helps immigrants know their rights put his training to the test when ICE officers tried to arrest two people with him — and it paid off. Bryan MacCormack, who works at the Columbia County Sanctuary Movement, was in a car with two community members without legal status on March 8 when they were approached by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, according to the group. The trio had just left Hudson City Court, where MacCormack was accompanying the two, when they were pulled over. A video recording of the incident shows MacCormack in a tense exchange with one of the officers, who claimed to have a “warrant of arrest of alien.” “Those are not warrant of arrests, sir,” he told the officer. “Yes they are, sir, warrant of arrest of alien,” the unidentified officer replied. “Yeah, warrant of arrest of alien not signed by a judge. It’s not a judicial warrant. I have no obligation to oblige by that warrant,” MacCormack said. MacCormack had his attorney on the phone for the conversation. He can be heard saying he is on his way. The officers also asked MacCormack if he was aware of a specific section of the Immigration and Nationality Act regarding the harboring, transporting and smuggling of noncitizens. The Columbia County Sanctuary Movement said the officers “implicitly threatened” him with the question. After MacCormack’s attorney arrived and reiterated that ICE did not have a judicial warrant, he notified MacCormack that he was free to go. Shortly after, ICE and the Hudson Police Department, who were called to the scene by the agency, left the scene. A spokesperson for ICE said in a statement of the incident that “an individual interfered with the enforcement action, causing officers to instead depart the scene to avoid further disruption.” “Individuals who intervene in or seek to impede ICE officers while they are carrying out their mission recklessly endanger not only the enforcement personnel, but also the individuals targeted for arrest and potentially innocent bystanders,” the spokesperson added. MacCormack stood by his defense. “ICE tried to intimidate me into relinquishing my rights and I upheld my unwavering defense of our community,” he said in a statement. MacCormack and members of his organization later came up with a plan for the immigrants to seek sanctuary in a local church. Numerous advocacy groups and activists have condemned ICE for their aggressive expansion of immigration enforcement, which was bolstered under President Trump.

Why YETI Coolers Are So Expensive | So Expensive

03:18
YETI coolers have become a status symbol in the United States. The expensive, high-tech coolers range between $200 and $1,300. The technology used to make the coolers, combined with a highly effective marketing campaign, has made YETI a popular lifestyle brand that also makes apparel, drinkware, and even pet products. ------------------------------------------------------ Following is a transcript of the video: Graham Flanagan: YETI is known for its expensive coolers that have become a status symbol in America. This is their most expensive, the 82-gallon Tundra 350, that retails for $1,300. Since the company was founded in 2006, YETI has become an iconic brand. And they make a lot more than just coolers. Drinkware, apparel, and even dog bowls. But the coolers are what they're best known for. Like the popular Tundra 35 that retails for $250. But you can get a comparably-sized cooler from legacy brands like Coleman and Igloo for around $40. Why are YETI coolers so expensive? There are two pretty simple answers: technology and marketing. The Austin, Texas-based company was founded by the Seiders brothers: two avid outdoorsmen who felt there weren't any coolers on the market that kept their catches, kills, and beverages cold enough for long enough. They teamed up with a factory in the Philippines to create a cooler that they described as indestructible, with superior ice retention. Their first cooler hit the market in 2006. If you were serious about keeping your catches, kills and "brewskies" as cold as possible, you needed a YETI. Fisherman: Whoop. Don't worry it's a YETI. Flanagan: So, how do they work? The cooler's shell is made of a common plastic called polyethylene with a process called rotomolding, which uses high temperature and low pressure to create one piece of hollow plastic. Rotomolding is also used to make kayaks. The shell is pressure injected with up to three inches of commercial-grade polyurethane foam. And that's what keeps your beers, I mean, that's what keeps your catches and kills cold for so long. The coolers feature a full-frame, freezer-quality gasket that seals around the entire lid to minimize air exchange. And I can tell you from experience, they work. But are they worth the high price tag? I asked on of those questions on my Facebook profile, and the responses were mixed. "Definitely." "They're heavy AF." They are heavy. "No." "There are cheaper brands that work just as well." There are some rotomolded YETI competitors like Orca, OtterBox and RTIC, that are slightly cheaper, but still comparably priced. None of them have been able to create the brand phenomenon that YETI has seen. In October of 2018, YETI went public when they filed an IPO on the New York Stock Exchange. And the company's market cap is now estimated at $1.5 billion. So, how are YETI coolers able to carry that high price tag? Marketing. Highly effective marketing. And their campaign to ramp up the population of YETI nation is just getting started. The company recently hired the former head of marketing for Calvin Klein to be its Chief Marketing Officer. And the company's effective use of the all-American, rugged, outdoor lifestyle keeps customers coming back for more. -------------------------------------------------- MORE SO EXPENSIVE CONTENT: Why Louboutin Shoes Are So Expensive https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZPUK1GdoTY Why Bluefin Tuna Is So Expensive https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=setJXT-K2CQ Why The New York Knicks Are So Expensive https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKeBMWFUApg #YETI #Coolers #BusinessInsider -------------------------------------------------- Business Insider tells you all you need to know about business, finance, tech, retail, and more. Exchange CEO Series - ICE Cover: Jeff Sprecher takes on "fierce" competition, regulators and hackers

04:47
Exchanges have never faced more challenges and opportunities than they do today. John Lothian News sat down with six exchange CEOs at the 2014 FIA Boca Conference to talk about their views on four main topics: competition, regulation, growth and technology. Here's what Jeff Sprecher, CEO of the Intercontinental Exchange Group, had to say about each. "It's interesting to me that regulators today are trying to introduce more global competition when in reality, for those of us who are in the business, we realize that competition has never been more fierce and more global," Sprecher said. "And frankly, we are all trying to look at the same opportunity set and trying to use our current positioning like never before."

Bakkt Explained - How important is it? Could it create another bull market?

09:08
Bakkt Explained - How important is it? Could it create another bull market? Intercontinental Exchange explained Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) is an American company that owns exchanges for financial and commodity markets, and operates 23 regulated exchanges and marketplaces. This includes ICE futures exchanges in the United States, Canada and Europe, the Liffe futures exchanges in Europe, the New York Stock Exchange equity options exchanges and OTC energy, credit and equity markets. In 2017 ICE had revenue of US$ 5.83 billion with total assets worth US$ 78.26 billion. They currently have just under 5000 employees The most famous subsidiary of ICE is the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). It is by far the world's largest stock exchange by market capitalization of its listed companies at US$21.3 trillion in 2017. The average daily trading value was approximately US$169 billion in 2013 and is probably more now. Bakkt Basics In August 2018 Intercontinental Exchange announced that it planned to form a new company, Bakkt, which is intended to leverage Microsoft cloud solutions to create an open and regulated, global ecosystem for digital assets. The new company will work with a marquee group of organizations including Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Microsoft, Starbucks, and others, to create an integrated platform that enables consumers and institutions to buy, sell, store and spend digital assets on a seamless global network. The Bakkt ecosystem is expected to include federally regulated markets and warehousing along with merchant and consumer applications. The first use cases will be for trading and conversion of Bitcoin versus fiat currencies since Bitcoin is the most popular cryptocurrency. Good for investors and demand Bakkt’s platform enables institutional investors to buy Bitcoin via a regulated market infrastructure. Every ETF, money manager or financial institution needs to invest in Bitcoin safely and regulated market infrastructure offers that unlike most normal exchanges. Bitcoins will be physically-backed which is different than futures since those don't have physical backing. This means that if people buy Bitcoin futures it’s just the equivalent of the BTC value in fiat. With Bakkt the Bitcoin futures contract will be physically delivered versus fiat currencies, including USD, GBP and EUR. This means increased demand meaning when institutions begin investing Bitcoin with Bakkt, the actual Bitcoin is removed from the market. As a result it should driving price higher as supply diminishes and contributing to the overall market cap. Real life usage The investing is just a one aspect of the Bakkt. On top of that they are building a platform to enable consumers and institutions to buy, sell, store and spend digital assets seamlessly. Real life usage is the biggest issue that cryptocurrencies are currently very difficult to use and spend in real life. It is also very difficult for an average user to get into cryptocurriences - buying first cryptocurrency and then storing them is not that easy for an average user. If Bakkt is able to create a global network where users can easily buy, store and spend cryptocurrency it would increase the value of all cryptocurrencies tremendously since new users could purchase it and old users could use it. To achieve that Bakkt would need partnerships however. Partnerships To achieve that goal Bakkt managed to secure some significant partnerships: Starbucks which is an American coffee company and coffeehouse chain with revenue of US $22.387 billion and over 238k employees. They are one of the leaders in mobile retail transactions. They have gift cards and mobile app payments - cryptocurrencies seems to be perfect use cases. Microsoft is providing services for the system so it is unclear how much they will use the system but I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to be involved more. The other partnership is BCG - Boston Consulting Group is a American multinational management consulting firm with 90 offices in 50 countries with Revenue of $6.3 billion and around 16k employees. Huge partnership but unclear how far it goes. Conclusion In my opinion Bakkt news is bigger than any Futures because: it actually uses cryptocurrencies it builds real life usage for cryptocurrencies In the recent post Bakkt said that they will focus on three aspects New products on existing infrastructure to provide physically delivered Bitcoin futures contracts versus fiat currencies, including USD, GBP and EUR. New security standards New access to markets and information We need to keep in mind that Bakkt is a project by Intercontinental Exchange who are also leading the biggest stock exchange in the world. That means they do have experience and knowledge needed to pull this off. This is potentially one of the biggest news in the cryptocurrency world in years since it opens a lot of potential for trading but also trading.

How Does the New York Stock Exchange Work, Make Money? Trading Floor (1998)

26:06
On February 15, 2011 NYSE and Deutsche Börse announced their merger to form a new company, as yet unnamed, wherein Deutsche Börse shareholders will have 60% ownership of the new entity, and NYSE Euronext shareholders will have 40%. On February 1, 2012, the European Commission blocked the merger of NYSE with Deutsche Börse, after commissioner Joaquin Almunia stated that the merger "would have led to a near-monopoly in European financial derivatives worldwide".[46] Instead, Deutsche Börse and NYSE will have to sell either their Eurex derivatives or LIFFE shares in order to not create a monopoly. On February 2, 2012, NYSE Euronext and Deutsche Börse agreed to scrap the merger.[47] In April 2011, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), an American futures exchange, and NASDAQ OMX Group had together made an unsolicited proposal to buy NYSE Euronext for approximately US$11 billion, a deal in which NASDAQ would have taken control of the stock exchanges.[48] NYSE Euronext rejected this offer twice, but it was finally terminated after the United States Department of Justice indicated their intention to block the deal due to antitrust concerns.[48] In December 2012, it was announced that ICE had proposed to buy NYSE Euronext in a stock swap with a valuation of $8 billion.[6][48] NYSE Euronext shareholders would receive either $33.12 in cash, or $11.27 in cash and approximately a sixth of a share of ICE. The Chairman and CEO of ICE, Jeffrey Sprecher, will retain those positions, but four members of the NYSE Board of Directors will be added to the ICE board. Many of the people who ring the bell are business executives whose companies trade on the exchange. However, there have also been many famous people from outside the world of business that have rung the bell. Athletes such as Joe DiMaggio of the New York Yankees and Olympic swimming champion Michael Phelps, entertainers such as rapper Snoop Dogg and members of the band Kiss, and politicians such as Mayor of New York City Rudy Giuliani and President of South Africa Nelson Mandela have all had the honor of ringing the bell. Two United Nations Secretaries General have also rung the bell. On April 27, 2006, Secretary-General Kofi Annan rang the opening bell to launch the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment.[51] On July 24, 2013, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon rang the closing bell to celebrate the NYSE joining the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges initiative.[52] In addition there have been many bell-ringers who are famous for heroic deeds, such as members of the New York police and fire departments following the events of 9/11, members of the United States Armed Forces serving overseas, and participants in various charitable organizations. There have also been several fictional characters that have rung the bell, including Mickey Mouse, the Pink Panther, Mr. Potato Head, the Aflac Duck, and Darth Vader. The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), sometimes known as the "Big Board",[4] is an American stock exchange located at 11 Wall Street, Lower Manhattan, New York City, New York, United States. It is by far the world's largest stock exchange by market capitalization of its listed companies at US$19.69 trillion as of May 2015.[5] The average daily trading value was approximately US$169 billion in 2013. The NYSE trading floor is located at 11 Wall Street and is composed of 21 rooms used for the facilitation of trading. A fifth trading room, located at 30 Broad Street, was closed in February 2007. The main building and the 11 Wall Street building were designated National Historic Landmarks in 1978. The NYSE is owned by Intercontinental Exchange, an American holding company it also lists (NYSE: ICE). Previously, it was part of NYSE Euronext (NYX), which was formed by the NYSE's 2007 merger with the fully electronic stock exchange Euronext.[6] NYSE and Euronext now operate as divisions of Intercontinental Exchange. The NYSE has been the subject of several lawsuits regarding fraud or breach of duty[7][8] and in 2004 was sued by its former CEO for breach of contract and defamation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Stock_Exchange

Anatomy of a Trade - The NYBOT

Prior to its acquisition by the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the New York Board of Trade was the quintessential commodities trading organization based on the "open outcry" method of establishing value. Here then is a video time capsule of a methodology that is quickly vanishing beneath the waves of e-commerce. Have a look. It may by your last. More information at www.avekta.com. ICE to Launch Exchange, Physically-Settled Bitcoin Futures

02:26
This story is from https://bitcoinnews.com/, read the full article at https://bitcoinnews.com/ice-to-launch-exchange-physically-settled-bitcoin-futures/ The Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), owner of 23 exchanges worldwide including the biggest stock exchange in the world, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), and many futures exchanges and clearing houses, is creating a cryptocurrency exchange called Bakkt. Starbucks and Microsoft will be major partners of Bakkt and will begin accepting Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Even though this is all huge news, the biggest news might be that Bakkt is planning on launching physically-settled Bitcoin futures by November 2018, which would be a mechanism for institutional investors worldwide to easily buy Bitcoin.

Episode 71: Institutionalizing Crypto: Bakkt and the Race to Win Wall Street

38:05
Recorded at CoinDesk’s Consensus:Invest Conference, Bakkt’s CEO Kelly Loeffler and ICE’s Chairman and CEO Jeff Sprecher’s chat with the MIT Media Lab’s Michael Casey. Bakkt plans to roll out the world’s first 1-day physically delivered Bitcoin contract in 2019, allowing institutions and consumers alike to seamlessly buy, sell, store, and spend the digital asset. While Bitcoin’s value may rise and fall, the profound appeal of crypto is not so much as an investment to buy and hold, but rather a currency to actually put to work. Биржи ICE и NYSE Euronext сливаются

01:01
Rohstoffbörse ICE interessiert sich für die NYSE

01:01
