Some teachers think that international student exchange would be beneficial for all teenage school students. Do you think its advantages outweigh its disadvantages?

Before I went to Japan, more people than I can count told me that it was going to be "the best time of my life". Well, guess what, it wasn't! And that's okay. There is still time to host an exchange student this fall. Students from around the world are coming to America for the school year! Exchange students are 15-18 years old and attend your local high school for a semester or full academic year. Volunteer host families are carefully matched with students based on a number of compatibility ratings, such as activities and interests, country of origin, and gender. Host families provide the student with an American family cultural experience. The student, meanwhile, provides the family with an experience they will never forget.

Give your students a true education abroad experience, the most enjoyable and by far the best way to learn is to do so on an immersion program. In this way, the students gets totally immersed in the language, community, culture and settings of visiting places, which greatly speeds up the learning process. This excellent learning opportunity typically leaves the student with better understanding for people of all sorts, and can really make young people feel as though they have become “Citizens of the World.” While on an International Exchange Program students have the opportunity to learn at an international school, experience another culture, immerse themselves in the language and become a member of the host family. 5 Tips for Exchange Students Coming to Sweden: 1. Swedes usually don't wear shoes indoors. 2. Try to get a lot of sun during spring and summer to avoid seasonal depression. 3. Recycling is common in Sweden and I recommend you ask your host family how to do it if they don't tell you. 4. Sweden is not a liberal country when it comes to drugs and if you get caught doing drugs you could get in trouble. 5. People in Sweden like to "fika", which means we drink coffee or tea or something like that together with friends and family.

Hi everyone! In this vlog, I'll show you what going to high school in Japan as an exchange student is like! I hope you'll like it ♡ - So ☆About me: My name is Sofía and I’m an exchange student in Japan. ＊FAQ＊ •Where do you come from? I was born in Mexico and I live in Canada. •How old are you? 17 •How did you learn to speak Japanese? For how long have you been learning it? I’ve been learning Japanese on my own on and off since 2015. I learn it by studying out of Japanese-learning textbooks and watching educational YouTube videos. I guess I could say I’m a beginner - intermediate, but I’m constantly learning and practicing to improve my Japanese. •How did you go on exchange? I’m on exchange through an exchange program called Rotary. •For how long will you be staying in Japan? I’ll be on exchange here for 11 months. •What grade are you in? I was placed in 二年 (second grade) in my Japanese high school. •Are all classes only in Japanese? Yes. •How far do you live from school? It takes me about 20 minutes to get to school by train. ~follow me~ ig: @sofi.jp ●music used in this video● Sparks by Chaël https://soundcloud.com/chael_music Creative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported — CC BY 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/b... Tokyo's TUFS University has the most beautiful campus! For a year I've studied Japanese here and loved every moment. After much demand, here's a look at Tokyo student life. Of course there's beer! Enjoy the video? You can donate to the channel! Paypal.me/jasonislostshow Your generosity is greatly appreciated! Don't forget to check out the video room tour of my on-campus TUFS accommodation! - https://youtu.be/2smvFXVDWkQ As a British Exchange Student, spending a year abroad in Japan, I'm studying for a year in Tokyo, at TUFS University. Tokyo University of Foreign Studies 東京外国語大学, or TUFS, is located in west Tokyo, in the area of Fuchu. The amazing campus is is filled with beautiful architecture and nature, a real sight once you get up high. A wonderful place to spend a Japan year abroad. Japanese convenience stores, or 'conbini', are incredibly useful. I was able to order from Amazon and easily collect the order from a Lawson conbini. The Loppi machines are great for ordering concert tickets, museum tickets, and even tickets to the infamous Ghibli Museum, which is in the nearby area of Mitaka. Living in Tokyo is very convenient! The local station is Tama, a short walk away, and just to left of the station is Sankichi, our favourite lunch spot. The Kankoku-yokubari-don is a rice bowl dish filled with everything; beef, chicken, egg, rice, fish cakes, and literally translates to 'lusting after Korea - rice bowl'. And it's only 650yen! Bargain! You may have seen my previous video of the TUFS Gaigosai Festival, 外語祭 東京, where hundreds of students transform the campus into food stalls from all over the world. Hey guys! I often receive a lot of questions on my channel about all kinds of things including my "exchange" to a Japanese high school, so today I’d like to answer some frequent questions I receive as well as questions from social media. I know I addressed this like 2-3 months ago, I’m really sorry for the delay but here it is! Questions: Are you an exchange student? How were you able to study in Japan? Were the classes difficult for you? Did you struggle at all transitioning from classes in Australia to Japan? How much Japanese do you need to know to go on exchange? Host family advice? How old are you? Are you in college/university? How did you learn Japanese/English? What camera do you use? How do you film? What kind of humans do you like? What exotic meat have you tried? Are you a morning or night person? Are you a coffee or tea person? Would you rather read books or watch films? What are some of your favourite books? Do you have plans to visit Japan and when? Passepartout is an international partnership between high schools in the Region of Nantes, France, and high schools in Washington State. It’s a cultural and educational program based on the principle of reciprocity: students spend two to three months hosting an exchange student and are then welcomed for a two to three month stay in the school and home of the student they have just hosted.

This special program promotes international education directly into the classrooms; a class field trip without leaving the classroom. We have all heard of exchange students, but school exchange is an up in-coming trend for schools abroad to bring a group of their own students into American schools and classrooms. It is only a short-term program, about one to two week duration. Both schools abroad and local schools in Orange county/Los Angeles area have the delightful opportunity to become exposed to each other during their academic daily routine. The International group has the privilege to observe their American peers during classroom hours; lunches breaks, and learn about how American schools operate with first person observation. Groups from abroad get to enhance their English language skills beyond basic ESL (English as a second language) courses, but real direct language emersion. In exchange, the international group will educate local students of their own culture, language, and overall way of life as a young adult from their homeland.

HI USA participates in Hostelling International's IOU Respect program, which is an annual two-week international exchange program for youth ages 18-23 from Western and Arab countries. The program is an intensive educational experience designed to increase intercultural understanding and bridge cultural divides between young people from Egypt, Germany, France, Morocco, Tunisia, and the United States. The six partner hostelling associations from these countries take turns hosting IOU Respect. In July of 2012, HI-USA hosted the program at HI-Chicago. Through a series of engaging, fun, and challenging workshops as well as time spent exploring Chicago together, participants built meaningful friendships while gaining intercultural communication skills and learning to approach the world and its people with open minds.

Let’s make Global Leaders! - Taekwondo Student Exchange Program for High School and College At KTKD, black belt students learn how to lead taekwondo classes. This gives them the ability to teach English to taekwondo students in other countries. By doing taekwondo together, American students are able to experience Korean culture and Korean students are able to learn conversational English. We’d like to create opportunities for our students to study abroad in Korea and participate in a cultural exchange by sharing Taekwondo English to taekwondo students in Korea. These students have more in common than they realize and quickly become able to communicate, teach, and help each other. This is a sample of our KTKD students sharing English with taekwondo students in Korea. Global leaders in the making!
