The Truth about High School Exchange to Japan

05:41
Before I went to Japan, more people than I can count told me that it was going to be "the best time of my life". Well, guess what, it wasn't! And that's okay. I think many people (like myself) have rather wrong expectations when it comes to moving to another country, so here are some things I learned from the whole experience! ❤ Go on exchange to Japan (Geman-speaking countries only): https://www.intrax.de/kurzbewerbung-high-school?ixid=I-1151450 Ich habe meinen Schüleraustausch nach Japan 2015 mit Ayusa Intrax gemacht und tolle Erfahrungen sammeln können. Wenn ihr auch gerne einen Schüleraustausch machen möchtet, könnt ihr euch über den Link oben anmelden. Ich erhalte für jeden, der seinen Schüleraustausch über diesen Link bucht, eine kleine Provision von Ayusa. 😊 ❤ INSTAGRAM: sophierebi (https://www.instagram.com/sophierebi/) ❤ TWITTER: @sophierebi (https://twitter.com/sophierebi) ❤ FACEBOOK: Komorebi Cosplay (https://www.facebook.com/komorebicosplay/) ❤ MY GERMAN BLOG: https://sophiegoesjapan.wordpress.com/ ❤ CONTACT: [email protected]

A day in a Japanese High School // japan vlog #1

08:27
Hi everyone! In this vlog, I'll show you what going to high school in Japan as an exchange student is like! I hope you'll like it ♡ - So ☆About me: My name is Sofía and I’m an exchange student in Japan. *FAQ* •Where do you come from? I was born in Mexico and I live in Canada. •How old are you? 17 •How did you learn to speak Japanese? For how long have you been learning it? I’ve been learning Japanese on my own on and off since 2015. I learn it by studying out of Japanese-learning textbooks and watching educational YouTube videos. I guess I could say I’m a beginner - intermediate, but I’m constantly learning and practicing to improve my Japanese. •How did you go on exchange? I’m on exchange through an exchange program called Rotary. •For how long will you be staying in Japan? I’ll be on exchange here for 11 months. •What grade are you in? I was placed in 二年 (second grade) in my Japanese high school. •Are all classes only in Japanese? Yes. •How far do you live from school? It takes me about 20 minutes to get to school by train. ~follow me~ ig: @sofi.jp ●music used in this video● Sparks by Chaël https://soundcloud.com/chael_music Creative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported — CC BY 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/b... Give your students a true education abroad experience, the most enjoyable and by far the best way to learn is to do so on an immersion program. In this way, the students gets totally immersed in the language, community, culture and settings of visiting places, which greatly speeds up the learning process. This excellent learning opportunity typically leaves the student with better understanding for people of all sorts, and can really make young people feel as though they have become “Citizens of the World.” While on an International Exchange Program students have the opportunity to learn at an international school, experience another culture, immerse themselves in the language and become a member of the host family. QnA: How I attended a Japanese High School (NON-EXCHANGE PROGRAM)

13:21
Hey guys! I often receive a lot of questions on my channel about all kinds of things including my "exchange" to a Japanese high school, so today I’d like to answer some frequent questions I receive as well as questions from social media. I know I addressed this like 2-3 months ago, I’m really sorry for the delay but here it is! Questions: Are you an exchange student? How were you able to study in Japan? Were the classes difficult for you? Did you struggle at all transitioning from classes in Australia to Japan? How much Japanese do you need to know to go on exchange? Host family advice? How old are you? Are you in college/university? How did you learn Japanese/English? What camera do you use? How do you film? What kind of humans do you like? What exotic meat have you tried? Are you a morning or night person? Are you a coffee or tea person? Would you rather read books or watch films? What are some of your favourite books? Do you have plans to visit Japan and when? Host a High School Exchange Student

00:41
There is still time to host an exchange student this fall.  Students from around the world are coming to America for the school year! Exchange students are 15-18 years old and attend your local high school for a semester or full academic year. Volunteer host families are carefully matched with students based on a number of compatibility ratings, such as activities and interests, country of origin, and gender.  Host families provide the student with an American family cultural experience.  The student, meanwhile, provides the family with an experience they will never forget.

HI USA participates in Hostelling International's IOU Respect program, which is an annual two-week international exchange program for youth ages 18-23 from Western and Arab countries. The program is an intensive educational experience designed to increase intercultural understanding and bridge cultural divides between young people from Egypt, Germany, France, Morocco, Tunisia, and the United States. The six partner hostelling associations from these countries take turns hosting IOU Respect. In July of 2012, HI-USA hosted the program at HI-Chicago. Through a series of engaging, fun, and challenging workshops as well as time spent exploring Chicago together, participants built meaningful friendships while gaining intercultural communication skills and learning to approach the world and its people with open minds.

5 Tips for Exchange Students Coming to Sweden

05:37
5 Tips for Exchange Students Coming to Sweden: 1. Swedes usually don't wear shoes indoors. 2. Try to get a lot of sun during spring and summer to avoid seasonal depression. 3. Recycling is common in Sweden and I recommend you ask your host family how to do it if they don't tell you. 4. Sweden is not a liberal country when it comes to drugs and if you get caught doing drugs you could get in trouble. 5. People in Sweden like to "fika", which means we drink coffee or tea or something like that together with friends and family.
