Can you improve your project management by linking Outlook with OneNote notebooks? You bet your ***. OneNote, a free app from Microsoft that comes packaged with Office, creates notebooks with Sections and Pages for taking and organizing notes, sharing information with coworkers, and even collaborating. When you create a new meeting in Outlook, it is very easy to take the notes for that meeting in OneNote, giving you a blank canvas, as well as the ability to record audio and video, import spreadsheets, etc. Then, when there are action items in your meeting minutes, you can convert those to assigned tasks in seconds for your team. All attendees to the meeting can access, even edit the notes for the meeting. The right Project Management Tool and Method | Work Tools #20

05:44
No Excel is not a good project management tool. Even Microsoft uses something better. I got some questions about what is a good project management tool: JIRA, Trello, Planner, Visual Studio, Smartsheet... uff there are so many. So I thought I discuss during my visit at Microsoft (see WorkDay Ep. 12) and asked Christian Binder who is an expert for agile project management. I was blown away when he told me that they scale Kanban (a very lean, actually very very lean agile pm method) for 30.000 people. That's a lot more than most of the startups have that usually work with these methods. I would be interested in your best practice and best experience for project management tools and methods. Let me know. 4.3 Direct and Manage Project Execution Process | Project Integration Management. Full article ►► http://whatispmp.com/direct-manage-project-execution/ ================================= Direct and Manage Project Execution is the integrative process that encompasses all the work needed to produce the project’s deliverables, whether they’re directly related to the final product or part of the project management processes. Other knowledge areas contain processes that are focused on work specific to subject matters, such as conducting procurements, but Direct and Manage Project Execution is the dominant one for all executing tasks. The exact activities occurring within Direct and Manage Project Execution will depend upon the application area of the project. For example, a house construction project would include activities like "pour concrete foundation" and "erect framing." Some of the general activities within the Direct and Manage Project Execution include: • Perform the activities that produce deliverables. • Obtain vendor quotes, bids, and offers. • Staff, train, and manage human resources needed for the project team. • Incorporate approved changes (which include approved process improvement activities, approved corrective actions, approved preventative actions, and approved defect repair requests) into the project. • Collect and report on work performance information, such as status, cost, schedule, quality. 4.3.1 Direct and manage Project execution: Inputs • Project management plan The project management plan details how the project will be executed, managed, and controlled, including many subsidiary plans as to how changes to major project components, such as scope, budget, and schedule, will be handled, and how important factors such as communication, risk, and quality will be managed. The project management plan is the key source of information relating to project management for the project. • Approved change requests These were requested changes that have been approved for implementation through the processes in Perform Integrated Change Control. Change requests can come about due to any reason, including scope changes, policy or procedural changes, cost or budget changes, or schedule changes. • Enterprise environmental factors Any of the many enterprise environmental factors and systems that influence the project should be considered.
