Best render ever! Pause 2017 Opening Titles! Cinema 4D with Octane Render!
This year's theme of Pause is "Different Perspective". The whole idea was inspired by an anime called "Digimon Adventure", whose opening scenes show the different angle of a night city and digital creatures. Therefore, we decide to focus on a different angle or perspective of empty cities, to express a feeling of isolation, despite the fact we live in these spaces. The idea of using a cat for guidance is borrowed from an indie game called "HK", which will enhance the feeling of isolation between human and their environment. Also this is all CGi made in Cinema 4D with Octane Render. Half skull created from real CT scan data, ready for 3D printing
This half skull was created from real CT scan data. The sagittal cut shows the skull base anatomy in exquisite detail. The foramen magnum, skull base foramina, and cervical spine are clearly shown. This model is perfect for teaching anatomy to students. Download the 3D printable digital files at Embodi3d.com Music: "Sticky Bumps (featuring Debbizo)" by jlbrock44 This quick demonstration shows a half skull 3D printable medical model that can be created from real CT scan data. The video begins by transitioning through each of the lateral views of a CT scan of the head. Many important anatomical landmarks can be seen, such as cervical vertebrae, the mandible, facial bones, and cranial plates. The second scene in the video shows the same skull from the CT scan as a 3D printed medical model, only now it is cut in half along the sagittal plane of the head. This alteration takes 3D printable medical model utility to another level by allowing access and close examination of the internal structures of the skull. The way this 3D printed medical model of a halved human skull allows the inside and outside of the cranium to be seen makes it an exceptional tool for teaching opportunities. As the model rotates in the video, viewers can see that no feature is compromised and that it’s an accurate representation of the data captured by the original CT scan of the head. Will Minecraft and Makerbot Usher in the Post-Scarcity Economy? | Idea Channel | PBS Digital Studios
From the Jetsons to Cory Doctorow, science fiction writers of all stripes have imagined a world where any object could be instantly created. Modern economics on the other hand, is built on the principle of competition for scarce resources. And while it may not seem like a video game and printer could alter this economic reality, we beg to differ. Minecraft's creative mode is the perfect vehicle for understanding a Post-Scarcity world; a place where resources are permanently available and constantly regenerated. It shows that with unlimited resources, people end up creating amazing digital structures! Of course, a world of infinitely available resources seems pretty fantastical until you consider the Makerbot and the future of 3D printing. The Makerbot is an at home device that allow you to print real three dimensional objects, meaning a Minecraftian future where you can print anything you want at anytime might not be that far away. More information and resources: http://www.welchlabs.com Imaginary numbers are not some wild invention, they are the deep and natural result of extending our number system. SEXLESS JAPAN: The Celibacy Syndrome as Japan Moves from Real World To Virtual World
SEXLESS JAPAN: The Celibacy Syndrome as Japan Moves from Real World To Virtual World A survey this year by the Japan Family Planning Association (JFPA) found that 45% of women aged 16-24 "were not interested in or despised sexual contact". More than a quarter of men felt the same way. Population projected to plunge additional one-third by 2060 Survey in 2011 found that 61% of unmarried men and 49% of women aged 18-34 were not in any kind of romantic relationship Fewer babies were born in 2012 than any year on record. Of the estimated 13 million unmarried people in Japan who currently live with their parents, around three million are over the age of 35. Married working women are sometimes demonised as oniyome, or "devil wives". Japan's Institute of Population and Social Security reports an astonishing 90% of young women believe that staying single is "preferable to what they imagine marriage to be like". Ai Aoyama is a sex and relationship counsellor who works out of her narrow three-story home on a Tokyo back street. Aoyama, 52, is trying to cure what Japan's media calls sekkusu shinai shokogun, or "celibacy syndrome". Japan's under-40s appear to be losing interest in conventional relationships. Millions aren't even dating, and increasing numbers can't be bothered with sex. Japan's under-40s won't go forth and multiply out of duty, as postwar generations did. The country is undergoing major social transition after 20 years of economic stagnation. It is also battling against the effects on its already nuclear-destruction-scarred psyche of 2011's earthquake, tsunami and radioactive meltdown. There is no going back. "Both men and women say to me they don't see the point of love. They don't believe it can lead anywhere," says Aoyama. "Relationships have become too hard." Japan's punishing corporate world makes it almost impossible for women to combine a career and family, while children are unaffordable unless both parents work. Cohabiting or unmarried parenthood is still unusual, dogged by bureaucratic disapproval. Aoyama says the sexes, especially in Japan's giant cities, are "spiralling away from each other". Lacking long-term shared goals, many are turning to what she terms "Pot Noodle love" -- easy or instant gratification, in the form of casual sex, short-term trysts and the usual technological suspects: online porn, virtual-reality "girlfriends", anime cartoons. Or else they're opting out altogether and replacing love and sex with other urban pastimes. Some of Aoyama's clients are among the small minority who have taken social withdrawal to a pathological extreme. They are recovering hikikomori ("shut-ins" or recluses) taking the first steps to rejoining the outside world, otaku (geeks), and long-term parasaito shingurus (parasite singles) who have reached their mid-30s without managing to move out of home. (Of the estimated 13 million unmarried people in Japan who currently live with their parents, around three million are over the age of 35.) "A few people can't relate to the opposite sex physically or in any other way. They flinch if I touch them," she says. "Most are men, but I'm starting to see more women." Aoyama cites one man in his early 30s, a virgin, who can't get sexually aroused unless he watches female robots on a game similar to Power Rangers. "Marriage is a woman's grave," goes an old Japanese saying that refers to wives being ignored in favour of mistresses. For Japanese women today, marriage is the grave of their hard-won careers. I meet Eri Tomita, 32, over Saturday morning coffee in the smart Tokyo district of Ebisu. Tomita has a job she loves in the human resources department of a French-owned bank. A fluent French speaker with two university degrees, she avoids romantic attachments so she can focus on work. "A boyfriend proposed to me three years ago. I turned him down when I realised I cared more about my job. After that, I lost interest in dating. It became awkward when the question of the future came up." Romantic commitment seems to represent burden and drudgery, from the exorbitant costs of buying property in Japan to the uncertain expectations of a spouse and in-laws. And the centuries-old belief that the purpose of marriage is to produce children endures. Japan's Institute of Population and Social Security reports an astonishing 90% of young women believe that staying single is "preferable to what they imagine marriage to be like". Japanese-American author Roland Kelts, who writes about Japan's youth, says it's inevitable that the future of Japanese relationships will be largely technology driven. "Japan has developed incredibly sophisticated virtual worlds and online communication systems. Its smart phone apps are the world's most imaginative." Kelts says the need to escape into private, virtual worlds in Japan stems from the fact that it's an overcrowded nation with limited physical space. But he also believes the rest of the world is not far behind.

Human search for meaning – the real realist
https://verbalistseducation.com In this video, legendary psychiatrist and Holocaust-survivor Viktor Frankl delivers a powerful message about the human search for meaning — and the most important gift we can give others. Viktor talks about the importance of being an idealist, or what he called the real realist. As he shared, "If we take a man as he is, we make him worse, but if we take a man as he should be, we make him capable of becoming what he can be."

Infinite Reality: The Dawn of the Virtual Revolution with Jeremy Bailenson
Watch, learn and connect: https://stanfordconnects.stanford.edu/ Can experiences in virtual reality impact human behavior? Professor Bailenson shares several studies from the Virtual Human Interaction Lab that demonstrate these changes, impacting the way we conserve resources, save for retirement, train for sports, learn and understand diversity. Jeremy Bailenson is the founding director of the Virtual Human Interaction Lab, an associate professor of communication and a senior fellow at the Woods Institute for the Environment. He explores the manner in which people are able to represent themselves when the physical constraints of body and vertically-rendered behaviors are removed. He also designs and studies virtual reality systems that allow physically remote individuals to meet in virtual space, and explores the manner in which these systems change the nature of verbal and nonverbal interaction. His findings have been published in more than 90 academic papers in the fields of communication, computer science, education, law, political science and psychology. This Stanford+Connects micro lecture was filmed on location in New York, New York. Stanford+Connects is a program of the Stanford Alumni Association.

Brand new videos 7 days a week! In this video: Before a story about toys, before monsters went corporate, before anyone went searching for Nemo, and before twenty seven Academy Awards, Pixar was a high-end computer hardware company whose clients included the government and the medical community. The story of Pixar isn’t exactly full of superheroes, adorable robots, or talking bugs. The tale of the most profitable and critically adored animation studio in the history of the world (yes, by sheer gross numbers, more so than Disney) is one filled with financial difficulties, fired Apple employees, digital printers, and an animated left hand. And it all started with a Mormon graduate student at the University of Utah. Building a 3D Printed Heart Library
Dr. Matthew Bramlet of Jump Simulation and Children's Hospital of Illinois leads a program on building a 3D model heart library. These 3D models are the result of actual patient scans, from individuals that have generously consented to sharing their scanned imagery for others to learn from. These 3D models are being used for surgical planning, being viewed both digitally and with 3D printed replicas. However, there is great opportunity for sharing this information with the world in a library format. The ability of a physician to hold a physical 3D model in her hand creates a vastly better understanding of a patient's heart & how to treat it. Jump Simulation hopes to take the benefit of the 3D modeling resources that we have and to make it available to anybody. We really see a lot of potential for the future of the NIH 3D Print Exchange and medical or anatomic libraries.

Maxwell's Equations: Crash Course Physics #37
Want more Crash Course in person? We'll be at NerdCon: Nerdfighteria in Boston on February 25th and 26th! For more information, go to http://www.nerdconnerdfighteria.com/ In the early 1800s, Michael Faraday showed us how a changing magnetic field induces an electromotive force, or emf, resulting in an electric current. He also found that electric fields sometimes act like magnetic fields, and developed equations to calculate the forces exerted by both. In the mid-1800s, Scottish physicist James Maxwell thought something interesting was going on there, too. So he decided to assemble a set of equations that held true for all electromagnetic interactions. In this episode of Crash Course Physics, Shini talks to us about Maxwell's Equations and how important they are to our understanding of Physics. *** Get your own Crash Course Physics mug from DFTBA: http://store.dftba.com/products/crash... Minecraft is a sandbox video game created and designed by Swedish game designer Markus "Notch" Persson, and later fully developed and published by Mojang. The creative and building aspects of Minecraft enable players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally generated world. Other activities in the game include exploration, resource gathering, crafting, and combat. Multiple gameplay modes are available, including a survival mode where the player must acquire resources to build the world and maintain health, a creative mode where players have unlimited resources to build with and the ability to fly, an adventure mode where players can play custom maps created by other players, and a spectator mode where players can fly around and clip through blocks, but cannot place or destroy any. The PC version of the game is noted for its modding scene, where a dedicated community creates new gameplay mechanics, items, and assets for the game. Minecraft received praise from critics, and won numerous awards and accolades. As of February 2017, over 121 million copies have been sold across all platforms, making it the second best-selling video game of all time, only behind the various releases of Tetris. In September 2014, Microsoft announced a deal to buy Mojang and the Minecraft intellectual property for US$2.5 billion, with the acquisition being completed two months later. Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is a euphoric experience characterized by a static-like or tingling sensation on the skin that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine, precipitating relaxation. It has been compared with auditory-tactile synesthesia.Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) signifies the subjective experience of 'low-grade euphoria' characterized by 'a combination of positie feelings, relaxation, and a distinct static-like tingling sensation on the skin'.It typically begins 'on the scalp' before moving 'down the spine' to the base of the neck, sometimes spreading 'to the back, arms and legs as intensity increases', most commonly triggered by specific acoustic and visual stimuli including the content of some digital videos, and less commonly by intentional attentional control. The Venus flytrap (also referred to as Venus's flytrap or Venus' flytrap), Dionaea muscipula, is a carnivorous plant native to subtropical wetlands on the East Coast of the United States in North Carolina and South Carolina. It catches its prey—chiefly insects and arachnids—with a trapping structure formed by the terminal portion of each of the plant's leaves, which is triggered by tiny hairs on their inner surfaces.

The New Collar Workforce by Sarah Boisvert - Book Trailer
https://store.photonics.com/Product.aspx?SPID=25 An Insider's Guide to Making Impactful Change in Manufacturing and Training NEW from Photonics Media Press! Transformation is underway in the modern factory and new options exist for training digital factory workers. The New Collar Workforce is a guide to these changes for people working in * production management, * human resources, * economic development and * education. U.S. manufacturing companies are expected to face a shortage of 2 million skilled workers by the year 2020, according to reports. As a result, manufacturers and educators everywhere are looking for real, actionable ideas to train workers, reduce the shortfall and realize the potential of the new age of manufacturing that is upon us. Author Sarah Boisvert is a co-founder of the commercial division of Potomac Photonics Inc. of Baltimore, Md., where she worked to commercialize a proprietary RF-discharge excimer laser. She currently serves as the company’s chief 3D printing officer. At the core of this very timely and easy-to-read book is the undeniable passion the author has for the subject – it is one she has lived and breathed for many years – and the results of her survey of the worker needs U.S. manufacturers are facing, an effort that was supported in part by a contribution from the Verizon Foundation. The “new collar” workers that manufacturers seek have the digital skills needed to “run automation and software, design in CAD, program sensors, maintain robots, repair 3D printers, and collect and analyze data,” according to the author. Educational systems must evolve to supply Industry 4.0 with new collar workers, and this book leads the reader to innovative organizations that are recreating training programs for a new age in manufacturing. The author’s call to action is clear: “We live in a time of extraordinary opportunity to look to the future and fundamentally change manufacturing jobs but also to show people the value in new collar jobs and to create nontraditional pathways to engaging, fulfilling careers in the digital factory. If industry is to invigorate and revitalize manufacturing, it must start with the new collar workers who essentially make digital fabrication for Industry 4.0 possible.” If you hire, train or manage a manufacturing workforce; educate or parent students who are searching for a career path; or are exploring a career change, you should read this book.

Our Place In The Universe
http://www.facebook.com/ScienceReason ... TED talks: Our place in the cosmos. Carter Emmart demos a 3D atlas of the universe. Carter Emmart uses astronomy and computational modeling to create scientifically accurate, three-dimensional tours of our universe. "My job is to translate the difficulty of science into understandable stories." (Carter Emmart) --- Please SUBSCRIBE to Science & Reason: • http://www.youtube.com/Best0fScience • http://www.youtube.com/ScienceTV • http://www.youtube.com/FFreeThinker --- For the last 12 years, Carter Emmart has been coordinating the efforts of scientists, artists and programmers to build a complete 3D visualization of our known universe. He demos this stunning tour and explains how it's being shared with facilities around the world. As the Director of Astrovisualization at the American Museum of Natural History, Carter Emmart directs their groundbreaking space shows and heads up development of an interactive 3D atlas called The Digital Universe. He coordinates scientists, programmers and artists to produce scientifically accurate yet visually stunning and immersive space experiences in the AMNH's Hayden Planetarium. Over the last decade, he has directed four shows: "Passport to the Universe", "The Search for Life: Are we Alone?", "Cosmic Collisions" and "Journey to the Stars". Emmart's interest in space began early, and at ten he was taking astronomy courses in the old Hayden. As a child born into a family of artists, he naturally combined his love of science with his tendency for visualization. His first work was in architectural modeling, soon moving on to do scientific visualization for NASA and the National Center for Atmospheric Research, before joining the AMNH. • http://www.ted.com/ • http://www.amnh.org/ --- TRANSCRIPT The flat horizon that we've evolved with has been a metaphor for the infinite, unbounded resources and unlimited capacity for disposal of waste. It wasn't until we really left Earth, got above the atmosphere and had seen the horizon bend back on itself that we could understand our planet as a limited condition. The Digital Universe Atlas has been built at the American Museum of Natural History over the past 12 years. We maintain that, put that together as a project to really chart the universe across all scales. What we see here are satellites around the Earth, and the Earth in proper registration against the universe, as we see. NASA supported this work 12 years ago as part of the rebuilding of the Hayden Planetarium so that we would share this with the world. The Digital Universe is the basis of our space show productions that we do -- our main space shows in the dome. But what you see here is the result of actually internships that we hosted with Linkoping University in Sweden. I've had 12 students work on this for their graduate work. And the result has been this software called Uniview and a company called SCISS in Sweden. This software allows interactive use. So this actual flight path and movie that we see here was actually flown live. I captured this live from my laptop in a cafe called Earth Matters on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, where I live. And it was done as a collaborative project with the Rubin Museum of Himalayan Art for an exhibit on comparative cosmology. And so as we move out, we see continuously from our planet all the way out into the real of galaxies as we see here, light travel time, giving you a sense of how far away we are. As we move out, the light from these distant galaxies have taken so long, we're essentially backing up into the past. We back so far up we're finally seeing a containment around us -- the afterglow of the Big Bang. This is the WMAP microwave background that we see. We'll fly outside it here, just to see this sort of containment. If we were outside this, it would almost be meaningless, in the sense as before time. But this our containment of the visible universe. We know the universe is bigger than that which we can see. And just in closing, I'd just like to say this beautiful world that we live on -- Here we see a bit of the snow that some of you may have had to brave in coming out. So I'd like to just say that what the world needs now is a sense of being able to look at ourselves in this much larger condition now and a much larger sense of what home is. Because our home is the universe, and we are the universe, essentially. We carry that in us. And to be able to see our context in this larger sense at all scales helps us all in understanding where we are and who we are in the universe. • http://www.ted.com/talks/carter_emmart_demos_a_3d_atlas_of_the_universe.html .

Italy's first robotic concierge and car salesman
(2 Apr 2018) LEAD IN: There's a couple of new guys in town and they are taking Italy by storm. One is a hotel concierge and the other sells cars. Meet Robby and Cayuki Pepper - Italy's first dedicated interactive service robots.   STORY-LINE: Dancing isn't usually on the to do list of the average hotel concierge, but Robby Pepper does things slightly differently. As Italy's first robot concierge, Robby is not only here to answer questions but also to entertain clients in this resort hotel near Lake Garda. The robot has been programmed to answer simple questions and is able to give information such as the location of the spa, restaurants and opening hours. Marco Vescovi, is a product manager for the digital service company,  Jampaa. He has been working on Robby Pepper for the past year. "Robby Pepper will answer questions in three languages, Italian, English and German, the questions he can answer are the ones that have been taught to him, but naturally he came here to learn, and he will continuously be learning," he says. "The questions he will be able to answer at the end of the season will be all those questions that the clients have asked him - this can happen because we are using a machine learning technology so the machine learns as it works." Indeed, Robby Pepper is a supervised machine-learning robot. If a client asks him a question in a way he does not recognise, the programmer can subsequently link the question to a programmed answer, thus enriching Pepper's vocabulary and knowledge. As Pepper is just starting off, clients do need to be a little patient while waiting for a reply, but they still appear happy to interact with this new kind of concierge. After exchanging a few words with Pepper, Mihail Slanina, a client from Moldavia congratulates the robot on his skills. "He's like a real person, he's really good. He talks, he shook my hand, and he's perfect, good job robot!" Erica Mingotto, a researcher at the Management Department of Ca' Foscari University, collaborated on the project. She explains that the aim of the robot is not to replace receptionists or concierges, but to relieve human receptionists from routine and mundane activities. "Automation can intervene and thus deal with simpler, everyday routine activities, leaving and liberating human resources so that they can take care of the relationship with the clients in a deeper way or they can carry out other activities more efficiently. So what we can imagine in the future is not the substitution of all human resources, but a side-by-side collaboration with machines, just like we see here." For now, receptionist Sabrina Bechahed says she isn't worried about losing her job to a robot. "I think it is a novelty, one that you can't find everywhere, that can help both clients and us as receptionists because we are often busy so perhaps a simple answer, an information given on the Wi-Fi or where the bathroom or Spa is located can help a lot." And when asked whether he'll ever replace humans, Robby Pepper has been programmed to give the perfect answer: "I'm a social robot, I work with a human and I need a human to improve my skills". Over in Roncadelle in Lombardy, Pepper's brother, named Cayuki, is also attracting some attention as Italy's first robotic car dealer. The newcomer has his picture on the entrance of the shopping centre where the car dealership Cayu is located. Inside, he's ready to chat with any available bypassers. Cayuki has been programmed to give information on cars, play games, and gather client personal information so they can be contacted at a later stage. According to Andreas Barchetti, CEO of the Barchetti Group and Manager of the Cayu car dealership, Cayuki is a huge help. Colonizing the Solar System, Part 1: Colonizing the Inner Solar System
In this epic, 2-part episode, we team up with Isaac Arthur to imagine how humans will colonize the inner Solar System, becoming a true spacefaring civilization. Here's Part II https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0W7IRBeDkj4 Support us at: http://www.patreon.com/universetoday More stories at: http://www.universetoday.com/ Follow us on Twitter: @universetoday Follow us on Tumblr: http://universetoday.tumblr.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/universetoday Google+ - https://plus.google.com/+universetoday/ Instagram - http://instagram.com/universetoday Team: Fraser Cain - @fcain / [email protected] Karla Thompson - @karlaii Chad Weber - [email protected] Science fiction has told us again and again, we belong out there, among the stars. But before we can build that vast galactic empire, we’ve got to learn how to just survive in space. Fortunately, we happen to live in a Solar System with many worlds, large and small that we can use to become a spacefaring civilization. This is half of an epic two-part episode that I’m doing with Isaac Arthur, who runs an amazing channel all about futurism, often about the exploration and colonization of space. Make sure you subscribe to his channel. This episode is about colonizing the inner Solar System, from tiny Mercury, the smallest planet, out to Mars, the focus of so much attention by Elon Musk and SpaceX. In the other episode, Isaac will talk about what it’ll take to colonize the outer Solar System, and harness its icy riches. You can watch these episodes in either order, just watch them both. At the time of this video, humanity’s colonization efforts of the Solar System are purely on Earth. We’ve exploited every part of the planet, from the South Pole to the North, from huge continents to the smallest islands. There are few places we haven’t fully colonized yet, and we’ll get to that. But when it comes to space, we’ve only taken the shortest, most tentative steps. There have been a few temporarily inhabited space stations, like Mir, Skylab and the Chinese Tiangong Stations. Our first and only true colonization of space is the International Space Station, built in collaboration with NASA, ESA, the Russian Space Agency and other countries. It has been permanently inhabited since November 2nd, 2000. Needless to say, we’ve got our work cut out for us. Before we talk about the places and ways humans could colonize the rest of the Solar System, it’s important to talk about what it takes to get from place to place. Just to get from the surface of Earth into orbit around our planet, you need to be going about 10 km/s sideways. This is orbit, and the only way we can do it today is with rockets. Once you’ve gotten into Low Earth Orbit, or LEO, you can use more propellant to get to other worlds. If you want to travel to Mars, you’ll need an additional 3.6 km/s in velocity to escape Earth gravity and travel to the Red Planet. If you want to go to Mercury, you’ll need another 5.5 km/s. And if you wanted to escape the Solar System entirely, you’d need another 8.8 km/s. We’re always going to want a bigger rocket. The most efficient way to transfer from world to world is via the Hohmann Transfer. This is where you raise your orbit and drift out until you cross paths with your destination. Then you need to slow down, somehow, to go into orbit. One of our primary goals of exploring and colonizing the Solar System will be to gather together the resources that will make future colonization and travel easier. We need water for drinking, and to split it apart for oxygen to breathe. We can also turn this water into rocket fuel. Unfortunately, in the inner Solar System, water is a tough resource to get and will be highly valued. We need solid ground. To build our bases, to mine our resources, to grow our food, and to protect us from the dangers of space radiation. The more gravity we can get the better, since low gravity softens our bones, weakens our muscles, and harms us in ways we don’t fully understand. Each world and place we colonize will have advantages and disadvantages. Let’s be honest, Earth is the best place in the Solar System, it’s got everything we could ever want and need. Everywhere else is going to be brutally difficult to colonize and make self-sustaining. We do have one huge advantage, though. Earth is still here, we can return whenever we like. The discoveries made on our home planet will continue to be useful to humanity in space through communications, and even 3D printing. Once manufacturing is sophisticated enough, a discovery made on one world could be mass produced half a solar system away with the right raw ingredients. We will learn how to make what we need, wherever we are, and how to transport it from place to place, just like we’ve always done.

OWASP AppSec 2010: The Anatomy of Real-World Software Security Programs 1/3
Clip 1/3 Speaker: Pravir Chandra, Fortify Effectively reducing risk from software vulnerabilities remains a challenge for most organizations despite the existence of several secure SDLC models. From conducting technical assessments to earning management buy-in, there may not seem to be a lot of easy answers along the way, but experiences from the field shows that there is indeed hope. We've learned that the hard questions of "what", "when", and "how much" simply require the answers to be customized to each organization. Whether you're a developer or a CISO, this talk will leave you with actionable advice that you can use to help take your software security assurance program to the next level. To help organizations formulate their own solutions, we'll discuss several real-world examples of programs in action. From there, we'll talk about lessons learned and introduce the Open Software Assurance Maturity Model (OpenSAMM), a flexible framework for building a balanced software security assurance program (OpenSAMM is an open and free OWASP project and more information is available at http://www.opensamm.org). Using the framework, attendees will learn how to self-assess their security activities and use available resources to drive improvement in small and measurable iterations. With time remaining, we'll also discuss the latest work on the OpenSAMM project and how it relates to other modern approaches to building out assurance programs.
