Top 10 people that survived scary shark encounters on the beach and in the middle of the ocean. Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/9CwQhg For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] Other Videos You Might Like Terrifying Sea Creatures That Actually Exist https://youtu.be/uoqnoLxlfxI The Most Dangerous Selfies Ever Taken https://youtu.be/vbINDVqaQic Description: A fear of sharks is known as galeophobia, a condition that might be growing more widespread as media stories about shark attacks seem to be getting more frequent. Highlighted by the unsettling live video footage of professional surfer Mick Fanning getting attacked during the J-Bay Open event in South Africa, this summer produced an endless stream of media reports that seemed to point to a troubling trend of aggressive shark behavior. Heck, we were even subjected to the third offering as part of the Sharknado movie series. Now, let’s be clear here - none of the reported attacks have been fatal. In fact, shark attack deaths are extremely infrequent, with many seemingly mundane activities bringing about a higher death toll. There were 15,000 deaths identified as being caused by cycling between 1990 and 2009, a period that produced just 14 shark attack fatalities. Even lightning strikes have been statistically known to kill 40 people annually, far exceeded the death rate for shark-related mishaps. Shark attacks have increased in sheer numbers over the years, but have actually decreased proportionally in relation to a growing population. In reality, sharks have little interest in feasting on humans. Beyond population numbers, increases in attacks have come as a result of more people finding their way onto beaches and into oceans. For those who find themselves swimming far off the coast and in deep, shark-infested waters, you are occupying territory that belongs to them. If they decide to approach, it’s borne more out of a curiosity over a foreign presence than any vicious intent. Even when it comes to shark encounters, exploratory bites are far more common than attempts by sharks to devour human prey. It’s understandable that it would be of little comfort for most people to know that most shark bites are more exploratory in nature than malicious. After all, a shark sighting is going to be downright frightening for a swimmer regardless of the shark’s intent. Armed with speed, power and sharp, jagged teeth, sharks offer a destructive enough force that any of the approximate 60 attacks every year have the potential to be deadly. The good news is that shark attacks happen to be quite preventable. Aside from staying near the shore when wading into the ocean, simple, easy measures like avoiding fishing areas and holding off swimming with open wounds can help, as can staying out of the water at night. If you do encounter a shark, do your best to stay calm, try to maintain eye contact and then back away slowly. That being said, you still don’t want to find yourself in the crosshairs of a hungry, blood-thirsty shark. These 10 people couldn’t prevent shark encounters, but their crazy survival stories offer hope that you can live to tell the tale even after being in the presence of a Great White. Here are the remarkable stories behind 10 terrifying shark attacks and the lucky folks that survived the traumatic ordeals. Shark Sightings Are Booming Off California Beaches—And Why That’s Good News | NBC Left Field

08:17
Shark Week happens every week in Southern California, where great white shark sightings have increased dramatically during the past few years. With shark attacks at a record low and conservation efforts on full blast, this boom may actually be an incredible sign for the future of our planet. In Huntington Beach alone, they’ve gone from one alleged shark sighting in 2014 to 56 reported sightings in 2015. Although sightings peaked in 2015, beachgoers in California still observe dozens of great white sharks every year. During a recent trip, NBC Left Field’s Matt Danzico was told great white sharks are now “everywhere,” swimming just off of the beach in towns from Santa Barbara to San Diego. 10 Most Bizarre Shark Species Ever Discovered

top 10 most unusual types of shark that live in the sea Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/9CwQhg For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] Other Videos You Might Like Most Mysterious Creatures Found On the Beach https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aq1JxL0iswg 10 Shocking Cases of Female Predators https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BzWOmi4Rn8 Description: In 1975 Steven Spielberg terrified potential beach goers everywhere when the film Jaws hit the big screen. The mechanical shark devoured and killed everything in its path and ensured that sharks were given a bad name. Forty years on and we are still fascinated with sharks. From the comically terrible Sharknado movies to the Discovery Channel’s Shark Week specials, these underwater dwellers continue to capture our imaginations and either fascinate or terrify us. This is only heightened when we see news reports of giant sharks caught in the Pacific or watch video clips of surfers fighting off a prowling shark off the shoreline. Yes, our interest and fascination with these creatures is influenced a great deal by their violent portrayal in media and film as well as by our near total lack of knowledge concerning the life that exists below the surface of the water. When asked about sharks, the vast majority will picture a more popular species such as the Great White or even a Hammerhead. Some may even think of the massive Megalodon – the gigantic shark that some people still think could exist. These are the all-stars of the shark world and, indeed, the Great White above all others seems to hog the headlines. What a lot of people don’t know is that there are many more species of sharks lurking below the surface of the world’s oceans. These fish can vary so much in size, color and form that you could be excused if you thought any of the following didn’t belong in the shark family. Why No Aquarium In the World Has a Great White Shark?

10:54
Even if you absolutely love aquariums and have been to dozens of them, there's one sea creature you’ll never ever come across there. Not a single aquarium in the world has a great white shark. Is the great white not cool enough to be put on display? Are people afraid of being attacked even when these animals are confined within thick walls made of special glass? There have been plenty of attempts to hold these creatures captive. In 1955, the first great white was captured and sent to Marineland of the Pacific in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, the animal didn't even make it through one day at the oceanarium. Scientists still don't know much about the great white shark, but they have come up with several theories. TIMESTAMPS Where can you find great white sharks? 0:48 Attempts to hold great white sharks captive 2:28 Why do they suffer so much from being locked up? 5:00 Depression 5:12 Lack of space 5:32 Respiratory problems 6:13 Hunger 7:05 The wrong water salinity 7:36 Why is it important to save the last great white sharks? 7:52 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY -These massive fish can be spotted in cool coastal waters all over the world. “Human” isn’t on a great white’s menu. In general, there are no more than 10 attacks a year. -In 1955, the first great white was captured and sent to Marineland of the Pacific in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, the animal didn't even make it through one day at the oceanarium. The SeaWorld in San Diego managed to keep a great white for 16 days back in 2003, but they ended up deciding to release the animal back into the ocean. -Scientists still don't know much about the great white shark, but they have come up with several theories. -Believe it or not, depression and shock can bring these powerful creatures down. -No aquarium in the world can provide the animal with conditions to let it move as it does in the wild. -In a tank, great whites can't move freely, so they develop problems with their respiratory system. What's more, a shark can suffer from hypoxia, or a deficiency of oxygen. -Since they need to hunt down their prey and eat it alive, they often refuse to eat in captivity. -You can't even imagine how hard it is to mimic the ocean’s unique water composition. -Great white sharks are extremely important for keeping the ecological balance in the oceans. Losing just one shark endangers the entire ecosystem. Unfortunately, there are just about 3,500 of them left in the world. Sharks can be 'Social or Solitary'

01:22
Sharks can be 'social or solitary' For more Latest Tech News and Product reviews SUBSCRIBE to The ZakTECH The most feared predators in the sea have individual personalities that affect how readily they socialise, according to a study by UK scientists. Individual sharks, studied in groups of ten, showed consistent social habits - either forming groups with other sharks or finding camouflage on their own. When a group was shifted into a new environment, individual sharks showed the same patterns of behaviour. This is the first study to show that sharks have their own personalities. The research was done in large tanks at the Marine Biological Association of the UK, in Plymouth, in collaboration with the University of Exeter. The findings appear in the journal Behavioural Ecology and Sociobiology. Strategies for safety Ten different groups, each containing ten small spotted catsharks, were each studied in three different situations. Some were complex environments with lots of rocks and other features, and some were simple tanks with gravel on the bottom. Even though the overall number and size of sub-groups among the ten sharks often changed between environments, the individual sharks that tended to form big groups continued to do so, no matter what the situation. Similarly, the more antisocial specimens remained on their own, or in much smaller groups. Reading the Signs - How can we better coexist with sharks?

14:11
The correct version of the previously released video by the same title. Sorry for the mistake. In an interview with surf legend Wayne Lynch, I asked him about dealing with sharks in the 60s to which he stated, “I learned to read the signs, and I don’t mean signs posted on the beach.” This got me thinking about the shark bites news articles that stated the surfers had been warned and that conditions were poor. Are we worse at being aware of dangerous conditions or simply not care? Or a combination? Then I thought, what if shark attack databases included a category called preventable, or human error, or stupidity. We have provoked and non provoked, fatal and non fatal (by the way, under non fatal are included attacks with no injury whatsoever, yes, those are recorded). Point being, would it affect our approach to safely entering the ocean if this little titbit of information was subconsciously planted in our minds? If we saw the vast number of shark bites that occurred when someone made a decision to ignore warnings would that 1. Improve our attitudes toward sharks? Would it lead to people reading further to know what those poor conditions were or what the warnings came in the shape of? The ocean has predators, not only does it have predators, but we’re in an even more vulnerable position in those ocean encounters than with land predators. So what do we do? Preemptively kill everything that can kill us? Or, what about learning how to improve our own self preservation? Warnings come in different forms. There are the warnings that nature will give you if you are paying attention, and there are warnings that are provided by other humans, such as posting beach signs, sending tweets or other alerts, sirens, or lifeguards literally saying, “Hey, don’t go in there!” Going through the global shark attack file it will blow your mind how many of the recorded bites occurred after such warnings were heard, seen, and ignored. I’ll give a few examples in a moment. The other warnings, the ones nature provides, aren’t as obvious, but re still clear to those who have learned to see them. I’m not saying I’m one of those people, I have a ton to learn, but I can tell you that I’m not going to go swimming with a dead whale in the vicinity. SCUBA dive yes, swim, no. Why? That’s a different video. Wayne lists a few examples, such as, fish shoaling, dawn and dusk, shark sightings, and a sixth sense, a connection with the ocean, something he suspects is lacking the increasing population of people using the ocean. Enter Chris Lowe’s quote, “We have a growing population with a decreasing ability to access risk” Of course you don’t have to stay out of the ocean when a shark is spotted, in truth sharks are probably there when they aren’t spotted, so shark presence doesn’t necessarily mean shark threat. And even when there’s a shark bite you don’t have to stay out and you still might be OK Let’s look at some examples. Wait, before we do that, again, why am I bothering? Well, I am a shark advocate and I would like to see us actually learn how to better coexist with them rather than killing them. I’m not saying sharks don’t bite people and I’m not saying they won’t continue to in the future. I’m saying, that your best chance of not being bitten lies with knowledge, not with baited hooks and indiscriminate nets. EXAMPLES Example 1 Fish Hoek, South Africa, a fishing town within False Bay and not the best place on the planet in terms of shark bites on humans. In this example, the beach had been closed, the shark warning flag was up, warnings had been issued, and the guy went in anyway. At the time of the bite, the victim was the only person in the water. I’m not going to say the names of the victims in this video, but I have provided links to the incidences if you want to look into them yourself. I provide both a news article and the Global Shark Attack File report as a cross-reference. The rest of the details are included in my comments since the description length is limited.

The Worst SHARK ATTACKS Ever

13:57
Yes, sharks are horrifying killing machines. They’ve been on Earth for 450 million years, which is longer than trees have been around, and throughout their history many species have been (and still are) apex predators. However, the good news is that even though sharks can be dangerous to humans, most of the time they are not. The odds of being bitten by a shark are about 1 in 3.7 million. So you’re more likely to be hit by lightning, or to be bitten by Uruguayan soccer player Luis Suarez, than you are to be bitten by a shark. →Subscribe for new videos every day! https://www.youtube.com/user/toptenznet?sub_confirmation=1 Help us translate our videos: https://www.youtube.com/timedtext_cs_queue?msg=10&tab=0 - Learn more why you might want to help: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6052538 Find more lists at: http://www.toptenz.net Entertaining and educational top 10 lists from TopTenzNet! Argonne News Brief: Scientists Develop “Shark Sense”

00:52
Argonne researchers at the Center for Nanoscale Materials have tapped into sharks’ ability to sense what we cannot. Scientists have found that when nickelates are exposed to salt water, their conductive properties are transformed. This Argonne-developed sensor technology would enable researchers to remotely detect fine changes in ocean currents around the world including temperature, pH level and pressure. This new shark-like sensing material is faster responding and more finely tuned than existing sensors, and the new material doesn’t degrade in salt water. http://www.anl.gov/articles/sense-shark-saltwater-submersible-nickelate-film

Shark Attacks German Tourist in Hawaii - Bites off Arm!

01:21
Shark Attacked a German female tourist snorkeling near the beach. 4th Shark Attack in Maui this year! UPDATE! http://youtu.be/FW51bWtMFWw 20 year old German girl had an encounter with an unidentified shark 150 feet off the shore of White Rock beach in Maui, Hawaii around 5pm on Wednesday. The shark attacked her while she was snorkeling and chewed off her arm just below the shoulder. The girl was unconscious after the bite and was taken to Maui Memorial Hospital by her 2 friends and a bystander in a kayak. As of today the girl's name has not been released but she appears to be in stable condition and looks like she'll survive. Hawaii had 11 shark attacks last year, the most in over a decade, but Hawaii has not had a fatal shark attack since 2004 when a surfer died after being bitten by a tiger shark 300 feet from the shore in Maui. While tiger sharks are one of the most deadly sharks to humans, reports are suspecting it was an ocean whitetip that attacked the girl. If you are going to swim at a beach that has any danger of sharks, it's best to have others around you and you should always avoid the water at dusk or dawn. Does Megalodon Still Exist?

18:37
Megalodon, the giant predatory fish of nightmares, was undoubtedly a magnificently terrifying creature. It's also been the target of many claims that suggest it could still be alive today, and a lot of people on the internet seem to be convinced that this is the case. Therefore, here I’ll be reviewing the arguments that have been made in favour of Megalodon’s late-survival, and we’ll see if it is indeed possible that the monster shark lives. New Megalodon Movie Makes People Question if the Massive Shark Still Exists

01:18
When it comes to getting up close and personal with large sharks, Police Chief Brody from “Jaws” said it best. “You’re gonna need a bigger boat.” But a great white is child’s play compared to another giant that’s caught the imagination of Hollywood and terrified swimmers alike. “It’s megalodon.” “He’s kidding, right?” The new movie has folks asking if megalodons could still exist. Cue the news articles from a bunch of different outlets, all asking the same question. The answer? No, the megalodon does not still exist, according to leading scientists Inside Edition spoke with. Natural History Museum experts in the UK say the same thing. Scientists debate the size of the prehistoric shark, but it’s believed to have been anywhere between 40 and 70 feet, nearly four times as big as a great white, according to Newsweek. Forbes reports they died out at least 2.6 million years ago. We’ve also only ever found the teeth of megalodons, no living creature. Plus, sharks shed their teeth often, and we’d have seen teeth washed up on shore or left in their prey. Critics are quick to say over 80% of the ocean is still unexplored, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. But IFL Science reports they hunted near the surface, and based on what scientists know, they couldn’t live in deep seas. So does megalodon exist? Only on the big screen! In his stunning video, the predators can be seen repeatedly biting the dead whale’s flippers, tail and body and do not appear to be concerned to be sharing their meal. MEGALODON: The BIGGEST Shark In The World

12:02
Shark week 2018 takes a look at one of the biggest shark species in the world. Said to be 3 times the size of a great white shark, is the Megalodon extinct or still alive in our oceans? Subscribe for more amazing videos! ► http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-Richest ◄ Megalodon is by far the most famous prehistoric shark. In fact, due to the explosion of shark popularity in the last decade, thanks in part to Discovery Channel’s Shark Week, megalodon may soon rival T-Rex as people's favorite ancient creature. It’s hard not to be in awe of the size and appearance of the megalodon, which is the largest species of shark ever discovered. However, we don’t exactly know how large, and the 100-foot status is now considered ludicrous. Its size isn’t the only thing that’s in speculation. Almost everything we know about the mysterious shark has not been confirmed, which is another reason why it is so popular. People can stretch the malleable frame of megalodon as wide as they want using only their imagination. There is a truth, however, and we’re here to find it. In this video, we’ll attempt to clear up megalodon’s many misconceptions, including the belief that it still exists today. In June 2014, scientists and experts from all over the world descended upon Durban, South Africa to attend the Sharks International conference. Great white shark seen less than a mile from Southern California pier

Great white shark seen less than a mile from Southern California pier: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5977751/Great-white-shark-measuring-17-feet-long-spotted-one-mile-Southern-California-pier.html. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCq6puMSvUFeRbquVqU4jekw?sub_confirmation=1 A full-grown great white shark estimated at 17 feet long was spotted less than a mile from a Southern California pier on Thursday, feasting on the body of a dead whale. The shark was caught on camera enjoying its meal offshore from the San Clemente pier by Marc Levine, owner of AllWater Charter, after he first saw the whale carcass at around 10am Pacific, and then returned to the scene.'It was my first large great white. I grew up working on the water, I’ve spent about 25 years working on the water,' Levine told the OC Register. 'This was the first big one.' The dead whale is believed to have been a juvenile, measuring about 28 feet long. Levine was out on the water that day on a 23-foot fishing boat, on a privately chartered fishing expedition out of Dana Point. After seeing the whale's body floating, he continued on with his group of anglers.A fishing boat nearby had already seen the shark by that time, and when another one of Levine's charters that had hung around the whale reported it had returned, he quickly made his way back to see the large creature for himself.'It was surreal when I got the first shot of him, or her. It kind of didn’t hit me,' Levine  said. 'I kind of blacked out. It was just, an animal that size is not something you see, ever.'  The longest great white sharks might reach up to 20 feet long, but that's not the norm, according to the Smithsonian Institution's Ocean department. The average female great white shark reaches 15-16 feet in length, with males usually growing to 11-13 feet. Ryan Lawler, owner of Newport Coastal Adventure, told the Register he believed the dead whale was a juvenile, and estimated it to be about 28 feet long. RELATED ARTICLES Previous 1 Next Two schoolboys who plotted classroom massacre given... Two sharks, including one measuring eight feet, are pulled... Share this article Share 'The shark was not that much smaller than the whale,' he said, having made the trip from Newport Harbor to see it for himself, in person, on Thursday.'It was pretty awesome. I had never seen a shark that big before.'Lawler's company captured aerial footage of the massive fish, showing it swimming between boats and circling around the area where the dead whale was floating.  Ralph Collier, founder of the Shark Research Committee, told the Register that it's not that uncommon for such a large shark to be so close to shore.'I’ve seen 17-foot white sharks on the other side of surf breaks,' he said. While San Clemente Marine Safety Officer Ian Burton noted that there are always safety concerns associated with a shark being near shore, Collier said the shark will most likely not be concerned with humans, thanks to its full belly.'They can always leave the whale satiated and full and they’ll just cruise around and they might cruise by the shoreline. Or they will go to deeper water and that will be that,' he said.'Their attention is going to be on the whale. They are worried about that.' #Great, #white, #shark, #seen less, #than, #mile, #from, #SouthernCalifornia, #pier #Great, #white, #shark, #measuring, #17, #feet, #long, #spotted, #one, #mile, #Southern, #California, #pier

Where did it all start? Well, to be honest ever since humans have taken to the sea they have been in awe of the powerful underwater predators. In 1975, interest was again piqued thanks to the classic thriller Jaws. Today, week long television specials and ridiculous films about tornados full of sharks prove that this big fish holds a place in our hearts, imaginations and fears. There are hundreds of species of sharks all over the world. Of course, the Great White is the all-star of this fish family but there are many other types you may not be familiar with – unless you’ve seen our video on shark species you may not know existed. So just what is it about sharks that grabs hold of our attention? Is it their killer instinct? Is it their sometimes spectacular coloring and shape? Whatever it is, these predators swim the waters of the world, from the deepest oceans to the shallowest shorelines, hunting for food. We all know they eat other fish in the water and, thanks to movies and occasional news reports, they have been known to take a bite of the odd human – but sharks apparently don’t draw the line there. Sometimes their ‘prey’ turns out to be rather unconventional. In fact, as you’ll see in the examples ahead, sharks are pretty much willing to eat almost anything they can get in their mouths.   Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheRichest.org Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheRichest_Com Instagram: http://instagram.com/therichest For more videos and articles visit: http://www.therichest.com/

15 TON MEGALODON? - real or fake?

03:41
There are a lot of people out there who still think that epic shark know as the Megalodon still lives deep in the ocean somewhere. In fact, a billschannel regular, Thomas Brown, sent me an news article that claims a 15 ton Megalodon was recently caught off the coast of Pakistan. Now if this is true, that is truly epic news…. but is this story real? Or is it fake? That’s what Thomas wants to know. Well Thomas, I did some looking around and all it took was few clicks to find the very first article posted about this. It was first published by World News Daily Report. In the article, it states local fisherman hooked onto a 10.4 meter (or 34 foot) monster that weighed in at over 13 thousand kilograms or 30,000 pounds. They thought it was a great white at first, but later decided it had to be something else since the biggest great white ever caught weighed in at only 2200 kilograms or 5000 Lbs The article goes on to claim "Analysis of the creature suggests it might be a relative of the Megalodon." OK, there is nobody who wants this story to be real more than me, but I have some very serious doubts about it. For one, it is published by World News Daily Report - which If you click on the “disclaimer tab’ presents you with this: "World News Daily Report is a news and political satire web publication... All news articles contained within are fiction, and presumably fake news." Okay, now if that is not a smoking gun, I don’t know what is…My only hope of anything being true in this article is in that picture. It shows a huge shark. Bigger than anything I have ever seen! I went over to TinEye and loaded up the picture to see where else it had been posted. A few clicks later, I found the original article the picture came from. It was a REAL newspaper called The Witness - published in Durban South Africa. And according to the article it wasn’t a Megalodon, it was a great white shark. , eremy Cliff, a shark researcher who works for the South Africa Government, confirmed it was real… Geremy Cliff, a shark researcher who works for the South African Government, is quoted in the article. He says, the 4,3-meter (or 14 foot) shark was caught in the shark nets off Zinkwazi beach on August 31, 2009. It was dissected and confirmed to be a juvenile female that has not reached full maturity. Thomas, I think we have reached the end of the road on this one. . Based on all the evidence I can find, the article claiming a megalodon has been caught in Pakistan is nothing but whopper of a fish tale. (IT'S A FAKE) And that my friends brings me to the question of the day… Do you think Megalodons still live in the depths of the ocean somewhere? Or are they an extinct species of shark never to swim the oceans of planet earth ever again. Let me know what your answer is in the comment section below and I will see you next time!
